It's 6:30pm on Friday, and the trash has not been picked up yet on Leverington Ave. (Recycling was picked up Thursday about 8:30am, right on schedule.) Anyone know what's up?

Snow, rain, locusts, UPS truck blocking your street. Could be a few things.

How about yet another city administration who somehow refuses to believe we live in the NE part of the USA, where we have to deal with things like crappy weather and fails to prepare accordingly? Why should South Street look like the Great Wall of Trash has invaded?

It is one incompetent higher upper city worker that decided to pass collecting on thursday trash collections as a new year gift like usual.
The following new tear on monday the weather man predicted that we would have 6 inches or more of snow tuesday or wed.
Then the City streets dept declared we ain't picking NO trash up in the back in a Tweet.
WE can plow with those trucks but we can not PU trash in the back, the usual BS.
Followed by the next day tweet to hold your trash if you are a thursday trash for next week.
But the Thursday would have actually been a friday due to new years.
But we only had about two or three inches and the lazy trash collectors earned two days off with pay.
Our city is run by the laziest $100,000 year workers.
The evidence is in the tweets that only 17,000 people actually read.
What about the other 3 million that have their trashed PU?
We can not even have decent trash removal in the winter every year the same BS Thursday trash NEVER picked up for weeks.
Every single winter the same old story. Lazy workers. Then trash and dirt fly around the streets and the goonies city sanitation police
hand out tickets that the trash collectors started this Catch 22 situation.
I could write a book about the nasties in Philly.

We apologize for the inconvenience. Inclement weather including last Thurs’ major storm, Mon’s wintry-mix and today’s steady rain, coupled with last week’s holiday schedule has impacted collections significantly. Crews working through weekend to catchup. Thanks for patience.

Phila Streets Dept called the reason they failed to collect trash after New Year 2018 week on a "major storm" Thursday?

BUT when I search the weather history using dark sky dot net

There was less than one inch of snow recorded in Philly:

    ← Wednesday, Jan 3rd
Thursday, Jan 4th, 2018 Snow (< 1 in.) in the morning and breezy starting in the afternoon.
    Friday, Jan 5th →

    Dark Sky - Thursday, Jan 4th, 2018

That site does not appear to update forecasts to the actual conditions.

NWS recorded 4.1 inches at PHL on 1/4/18

I have found Dark Sky and its Forecast.io data to be inaccurate. Go with NWS, or my personal preference -- NOAA. The Weather Channel is also a good non-gov source that builds on top of the NWS data.

And I distinctly recall shoveling at least 3 inches outside my place and then we got close to another inch.

January 16, 2018 at 4:25 PM Today is Tuesday.
Let me show it a different way to see if the Streets Dept is accurate to cancel Trash Collection in NE Philadelphia as their usual winter BS?
    -------------------------------------------------

    Philadelphia Streets:

PHILADELPHIA – Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams announced today that the Streets Department stands ready to tackle the next round of winter weather conditions, and advises citizens of the Streets Department’s plans. Current forecasts predict a coating to two inches of snow beginning after midnight tonight and finishing between 9AM and 11AM Wednesday morning.

I hear meteorologists saying that this is a Moisture Starved Alberta Clipper storm so the snow fall should be near ZERO
