Anyone else remember the '70s/'80s incarnation of New Market at HHSq? Big glass buildings with shops inside?

One night in the spring of 1980, my mother, stepdad-to-be and I shopped at New Market before (may have been after) dining in Chinatown. I remember going in the bookstore and being an amateur Beatleologist, noticed (but didn't buy) a book about Sir Paul.

FF to 1991, my stepfather's niece, her husband and I were piddling around Old City and went through HHS, and the glass New Market was empty. (We'd moved out of the Philly area by then.) When did it close and why? GGV showed something new under construction on the site in June 2014. Educate us.

YES I was at New Market. You walked through Head House
through an exhibit with a view of items in a dig of artefacts found
at old HH square like shards of pottery and china and bottles all
from the 1700's and into an alley and then
was at the entrance of New Market that was located on Front Street.
The shops were all upscale and expensive.
Place was for the wealthy with many boutique style stores.
I ate at the Japanese Benehana Place that cooked your food in front of you and
    Cafe Lisboa the Portuguese Restaurant.
The New Market was always empty.
    I liked South Street.

This is what happened. I guess somebody got live footage. Its hard to believe, but here it is. Seeing is believing of course.

    No denying it now.
