    MASCOW - A34960068

    Breed: Pit Bull mix.

    Intake: Found stray on 3/28....

    Age: ~3 years.

    Weight: 62 lbs.

    Sex/Alter Status: Unaltered male.

Medical Condition: Hair loss on tail. Dirty coat, possible skin issues. Red eyes. Underweight.

Personality: Mascow will steal your heart the moment you meet him! This sweet pup is eager to get out of his kennel to explore, and is easily leashed. Though he pulled moderately hard on his leash, he was easy to handle. Once in the evaluation room, Mascow sniffed for a few moments before promptly trying to climb right into his assessors lap. Mascow seemed to appreciate our attention, leaning into his handler and resting his head in her hands while receiving neck and ear rubs. He looked up with his big eyes and gave gentle kisses to her chin and face. He may be a big pup, but he is a total softy. During our photoshoot, Mascow explored the evaluation room with moderate interest again before finding a pile of blankets on a cart to make himself comfortable in. Mascow allowed being pet from head to toe, and seems to be a very affectionate young man. Mascow is looking for a loving home to curl up in with an affectionate caregiver. Can you help Mascow get the love that he wants and deserves?

    ACE A34938018
    ~updated photos!~

Ace is a 10 year old boy with a beautiful blue brindle coat. After living with his previous family for 10 years he's understandably sad & confused to be in the shelter but he's hoping to be living in a home again soon. His family did tell us that he lived with cats & kids & likes other dogs but he'll need to meet any resident dogs & kids before coming home with you...! Ace is a very easy going, distinguished gentleman who loves being around people & will tell you with his gentle kisses. And don't be fooled by his age, if you come to visit him he'll be sure to give you his best puppy dog eyes to convince you to bring him home! So come meet Ace, he's calm, sweet & has plenty of love left to give a new family.

MUST *LEAVE* by 4/22, 8 pm

    JADE - A35123260

    $100 pledged towards care!

    Breed: Pit Bull mix.

Intake: Owner surrender on 4/18 (cannot afford).

    Age: 12 years. Senior.

    Weight: 55 lbs.

    Sex/Alter Status: Unaltered female.

Medical Observation: Overgrown nails. Skin tag on left hind leg. Surgical scar from a probable tumor removal with some masses developing along the incision line. Several firm mammary masses. Chest radiographs, abdominal ultrasound, and senior blood work needed. Good teeth.

Personality: This little lovebug and will steal your heart the moment you meet her! Jade greeted us at the front of her kennel, and was easily leashed and handled. She walked through the kennels calmly on a loose leash, and explored the evaluation room upon arrival. After briefly familiarizing herself with her surroundings, Jade redirected her attention to her handlers and greeted up with a loose body and wagging tail. She seemed to relish in our attention, leaning into us to have her booty rubbed. Jade allowed being pet from head to toe (her head, neck, ears, abdomen, legs, and toes!), and plopped herself into the lap of her handler. Jade especially seemed to like having her chest rubbed, stretching her neck out and kicking one of her hind legs! She even gave us gentle kisses to our faces. She was easily returned to her kennel. Jade was sadly surrendered by her previous owner, but the reasons are a bit unclear. They told us they could no longer afford to keep her and her kitty sibling who was surrendered with her, but then alleged that Jade attacked the cat. They told us that they did not witness the attack, and that Jade never displayed aggression until this reported incident, and that she is not at all aggressive. We have not observed any sort of aggression towards animals or people in the shelter setting. If she did experience a change in behavior, our medical staff suspects that this is due to pain and medical issues that she is experiencing. We are extremely hopeful that this sweet senior will find safety with a caregiver who can get her the medical care that she needs and spoil her with all of the love and attention that she deserves. Can you help sweet Jade get a second chance at happiness so she can spend her golden years surrounded by love?

    BELLA - A35154397

    Breed: Mastiff mix.

    Intake: Found stray on 4/21.

    Age:1 - 2 years.

    Weight: 54 lbs.

    Sex/Alter Status: Unaltered female. Microchipped.

Personality: Bella was found stray, running around a school playground, and was brought into the shelter. We were able to contact Bella’s previous owners, but unfortunately they do not want her back because they are too old to properly care for her. When we visited Bella in her kennel, she was by the kennel door with a loose, wiggly body. She allowed us to leash her easily and lead her into the evaluation room. Once in the eval room, Bella began jumping up for hugs and soliciting attention, which we were happy to give. Bella is an energetic young pup and whenever we stopped petting her, she would run around the eval room, play bow once or twice, then come back and jump up again. She licked our hands and arms, and allowed full body handling including head, ears, face, back, and legs. When it was time to go back into her kennel, Bella went in on her own and allowed us to remove her leash without issue. Bella is a young, playful, pup who would be happy to find a new home where she can run and play all day long.

    RALPH - A35131759

    Breed: Pit Bull mix.

    Intake: Found stray on 4/19.

    Age: 5 - 10 years.

    Weight: 46 lbs.

    Sex/Alter Status: Unaltered male.

    Behavior Observation: Scared in kennel.

Personality: Ralph was found roaming along train tracks. Fortunately, he was found by one of our ACO’s and brought into the shelter. When we visited Ralph in his kennel today, he was initially very nervous. He was curled up in a ball at the back of his kennel. We opened the kennel door and extended our hand towards Ralph, and after a moment he began to slowly move forward with his tail tucked. He took a few sniffs of our hand and allowed us to leash him without issue. We brought Ralph into the evaluation room and he quickly began to warm up. Ralph began to loosen up and he slowly untucked his tail. He allowed full body handling including head, ears, back, and legs. We sat in a chair near Ralph and he came over and jumped up into our lap for cuddles. When it was time to go back into his kennel, Ralph was a little hesitant, but with some treats and coaxing he went in and we were able to remove his leash without issue. Ralph is a sweet pup who is not adjusting too well to life in the shelter. He would be very happy to leave and find a home of his own where he can relax and show you his true personality.

    BLUE - A35121974

    Breed: Pit Bull mix.

    Intake: Found stray on 4/18.

    Age: Adult.

    Weight: 55 lbs.

    Sex/Alter Status: Unaltered female.

Medical Observation: Hair loss on back and tail. Slightly overgrown nails.

Behavior Observation: Scared in kennel. Avoidant of handlers.

Personality: Blue was found stray and brought into the shelter. When we visited her in her kennel today, she was curled up at the back of the kennel on her bed. We opened the kennel door, and she did not come forward. We put our hands into the kennel and inched slowly towards Blue. After a few moments, Blue crept forward to sniff us. While she was smelling our hands, she allowed us to leash her. We led her to the evaluation room, but Blue was very nervous and kept her tail tucked and kept looking up at her handlers. Once in the evaluation room, Blue avoided her handlers and when we would approach her, she would walk away. We attempted to coax her with treats, but she showed no interest. Blue allowed us to take photographs and after several moments permitted some gentle pats on her head, but was overall not interested in receiving attention from her handlers. When it was time to go back to her kennel, Blue went in on her own and allowed us to remove the leash without issue. Blue is a shy but sweet girl who would be grateful to leave the shelter and find a home where she can de-stress and let her true colors shine through.

    Photographs: https://flic.kr/s/aHskVzemf5

Behavior Evaluation: Dog was at back of kennel on kuranda bed and would not come forward when coaxed. Overall asocial. Dropped treat in kennel and did not come forward to take it. Left and came back a few seconds later and dog had started to come off bed, sniffing at the treat. Proceeded to eat the treat and other treats that were on her kennel at the front of cage. Started to take treats from hand. Still asocial but no behaviors associated with aggression present when feeding dog (barking, growling, baring teeth, lunging, etc...).

    LORRIE - A16309502

    Breed: Pit Bull mix.

Intake: Owner surrender on 4/21 (inadequate housing).

    Age: 5 years.

    Weight: 39 lbs.

    Sex/Alter Status: Altered female.

Medical Observation: Scabs on face. Skin tag on left eyelid.

Behavior Observation: Shy and nervous in kennel.

Personality: Lorrie was surrendered to the shelter because her owners moved and they are unable to bring her with them. When we visited Lorrie in her kennel, she was sitting patiently by the kennel door, giving sad puppy-dog eyes to everyone who walked past. When we opened the kennel door, Lorrie stood up and allowed us to easily leash her. We led her to the evaluation room, and she began to shake, with her tail between her legs. We very slowly began to pet Lorrie, and she rolled over onto her back to solicit belly rubs. We sat down with Lorrie on the ground and she climbed into our lap and rolled onto her back again to solicit more belly rubs, which we happily gave. After sitting with Lorrie for several minutes and giving her attention, she began to warm up and gently took treats from us. She allowed full body handling including head, ears, back, legs, and belly. When it was time to go back to her kennel, Lorrie became tense and afraid, tucking her tail, shaking, and pancaking on the ground. She allowed us to pick her up and place her back in her kennel, where she began to accept treats again. Lorrie’s previous owners stated that she is good with people, dogs, and young children. Will you help Lorrie find her second chance at a loving forever home where she can relax and be snuggled all day long?

    VANILLA - A35127962

    Breed: Pit Bull mix.

    Intake: Found stray on 4/18.

    Age: 1 - 2 years.

    Weight: 51 lbs.

    Sex/Alter Status: Altered female. Microchipped.

Medical Observation: Alopecia on back and hind legs, visually consistent with FAD.

Personality: Meet Vanilla! This sweet bat-eared beauty was found tied-up with a chain at a public park. When we visited Vanilla in her kennel today, she greeted us at the door with a slowly wagging tail. She was slightly tense, but she allowed us to easily leash her and bring her to the evaluation room. Once in the eval room, Vanilla took a few moments to sniff around. When she finished, she cautiously approached her assessor with her tail tucked. She allowed us to give her some pats on her head and began to warm up. She un-tucked her tail and began to loosen her body. She allowed full body handling including head, ears, back, and rear, and gently took treats from our hands. When it was time to go back into her kennel, Vanilla went in on her own and allowed us to remove the leash without issue. Vanilla is a sweet girl who is understandably nervous in the big, scary, shelter, but she warms up quickly. Will you be the one to help Vanilla find a loving forever home to call her own?

    Photographs: https://flic.kr/s/aHskVzsJ9E

Behavior Evaluation: Dog is loose in kennel, easy to leash and pulls some while walking. Explores eval room and urinates on the floor twice. Allows all handling without issue, offers a few lip licks off and on. No interest in tag or toys, aside from giving a brief sniff to a plush toy.

Food Evaluation: Dog eats at a steady pace. Becomes slightly tense when hand reaches near and remains tense while hand is in bowl. Allows head to be pushed out of the bowl.

    MOJO RISIN' A35395572

    more photos - https://flic.kr/s/aHskVHLAk3

    Breed: Pit Bull Terrier mix.

Intake: Owner surrendered on 5/18 (moving)

    Age: 8 years.

    Weight: 41.2 lbs.

    Sex/Alter Status: Unaltered male.

Medical Observation: Old wound on face.

Personality: Mojo Risin is a sweet, cuddly senior who was surrendered to our shelter by his owners because they are moving. He is very friendly towards staff members, and although he dodges his leash briefly at first, we are able to handle him easily without any issues. When we first met Mojo, we brought him outside for some sunshine, and he immediately planted his face in his handler’s lap. He then turned around for some booty scratches, smiling from ear to ear! For eight years old, Mojo still has plenty of pep in his step, but it was reported on his “owner surrender sheet” that he has not been seen by a veterinarian in about five years. Therefore, he would certainly benefit from a check-up with a private veterinarian once he’s left the shelter! Mojo is a friendly boy with so much love to give and he truly deserves an incredible new home. If you or your rescue organization is able to provide Mojo Risin with all the tender loving care he’ll need to start a happy new life, please contact Lifesaving!
