Everything Fresh Philadelphia Grocery Store
According to Michael Klein, Circles at 429 South Street is done. The so called renovations story that means they closed was listed.
I thought the initial Thai-Mexican mashup was just a bad idea and I guess changing it over to a Circles couldn't save it.
Yes, the Natuzzi store is him. Of course, he had to find a sucker to put it together and not pay him.
He is also doing that hotel on Bambridge. It was supposed to be done last summer. Wants to name it after himself.
Lots of plans. Not a lot of integrity.
That's too bad. Not al all surprising given the guy has made a living being a ghetto real estate speculator/hack jean/sneakers salesman to dipshit youth.
I wonder if he'll be able to pull the hotel off. Different business from selling Air Jordans to high school drop outs.
What's the new Denim store about? You'd think if the guy is investing in a hotel and high end furniture on South Street, he'd have a vested interest in shifting the focus away from sneakers and jeans for teens.
UNICA at 5th and South is closed. What's planned there? Anyone know?
My crystal balls says......"no".
how do I say this tactfully.....
Idiots and scammers don't usually pull off great things. And if they happen to get lucky - they manage to screw it up eventually.
How was that?
Is that hideously large fluorescent-lit Eternity Fashion next to the former Circles Thai on the 400 block of South new? What a serious downgrade. Bummer. Belongs in a dying strip mall on Aramingo Avenue or 69th St, not South St.
It is unfortunate that South Street can't seem to shake the old guard of low end greasy food joints, teen-oriented sneaker bazaars and slutty lingerie peddlers. Those businesses really don't help the street to attract a more diverse group of patrons or even local QV/Society Hill residents. Really too bad.
In other news, inflatable rat in front of the proposed co-working building next door (fmr Pearl Arts).
Oy. Really too bad. I really hate these scummy old time-y landlords. They either sell crap to the LCD or burn their buildings down.
I wish that the South Philly Review or the East Passyunk paper would revisit the story. They were very proud to announce that the idiotic hotel would open last summer...so ...???? Look at it now - it looks nowhere near completion. And I'm surprised that there isn't a rat in front?
Dr. Denim - closed. Weird clothing in there. Mail in the doorway.
Net - on life support.
I thought Net was closing?
It looked closed to me last time I went by
I remember when it was a bookstore, does that make me old? lol
Yes, the Book Trader's original location. I remember buying an out-of-print book on the programming language FORTH there.
In case anyone has missed it, the 1 Stop Mini Market at 8th & Bainbridge is retooling and has a sign in the window that they'll be selling beer.
So did this revised proposal for a grocer at 2nd and South also turn out to be a lie?
That whole block is empty so idk what's going on anymore....
Speaking of which ... what are the 47 new condos going in there? Are they building more units somewhere and, if so, where? (It seems like the parking structure would be the only available space).
You are correct. They took back some parking spots to build the condos. Highest and best use!
Two more central Philly Bfresh stores planned by parent of Giant markets
This article implies that the South Street location is maybe moving forward? But is maybe still somehow more tentative than these two other previously unannounced locations. The saga continues.
Between this and MOM opening on 11th St, they are taking their sweet ass time...
Ask yourself, was the Garden of Eden thing ever real or a ruse to get people into a building. Ask yourself...does anything that guy does surprise you?
