I think I finally understand the Trump Doctrine as it applies to national security.

Insult our allies, cozy up to our strongmen enemies, and antagonize/provoke enemies who aren't strongmen, while attacking or undermining our defense institutions.

Obviously this wouldn't be a thought out strategy by anyone, even Trump. Its not a strategy. But it is an objective summary of the actions Trump has taken.

Of course nobody knows to what end this will lead. But energizing your enemies while disillusioning your friends and letting down your defenses seems to lead directly to a more vulnerable position.

Ex-'Apprentice' star Omarosa to tell all about White House | Associated Press

Her resignation - she was Trump's most visible African-American adviser - immediately raised questions about diversity in the senior ranks of the White House. Manigault Newman said in a separate interview with ABC's "Nightline" that it was challenging being the only black woman in the senior staff.

She said most of the other senior advisers are white, had never worked with minorities and didn't know how to interact with them. She added that her departure will leave Trump without any African-American representation on his senior staff.

"There was a lack of diversity that I will acknowledge," she told the network for its program airing early Friday.

Sanders insisted at her briefing Thursday that the White House team is diverse "across the board."
    ~~

I can imagine Trump hiring these two to replace Omarosa at the Office of Public Liaison. ;)

Special counsel obtains thousands of Trump transition emails | Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) - Special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian contacts with President Donald Trump's campaign has gained access to thousands of emails sent and received by Trump officials before the start of his administration, according to several people familiar with Trump's transition organization.

But the investigators did not directly request the records from Trump's still-existing transition group, Trump for America, and instead obtained them from the General Services Administration, a separate federal agency that stored the material, according to those familiar with the Trump transition organization.

The tens of thousands of emails in question pertain to 13 senior Trump transition officials. Many of the emails that Mueller's investigators have now include national security discussions about possible Trump international aims as well as candid assessments of candidates for top government posts, said those familiar with the transition. They spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the records' sensitivity.

Wait. I thought it was the liberal media suppressing stories. Now it’s the WSJ? Suppressing bad stories about trump? [clutches pearls] Oh my!

At least it wasn’t about anything serious. Just the President’s connections to organized crime. Irrelevant!! What about Clinton!!

Trump's approval rating just entered a league of its own - CNNPolitics

President Donald Trump's approval rating sank to a new low in CNN polling on Tuesday, earning the approval of just 35% of Americans less than a year into his first term.

    [snip]

It marks the worst approval rating in a December of any elected president's first year in the White House by a wide margin — and only the second time since the dawn of modern polling that a president's approval rating sank under 50% at this point. A broad 59% of Americans said they disapprove of how Trump is handling his job as president.

Here’s your reminder that, one year in,the U.S. Justice Department lacks Senate-confirmed leaders of its criminal division, its national security division, its civil division and its civil rights division. ATF and DEA are also led by acting leaders.

Perhaps not odd considering trumps attacks on the Justice Dept. But definitely odd considering his terror of the DEEP STATE, which could seemingly be rooted out by appointing as many of your own people as possible.

If there’s a deep state problem, FILL OUT THE GOVERNMENT WITH YOUR OWN PEOPLE.

But there’s no deep state problem. (Also Trump administration has a 30% turnover. More than twice any other administration. TWICE. So it’s hard to find and keep people)

Bixie may have forgotten his password. I noticed a post or two a couple weeks ago from a similarly-named new member, bixbite09, so he may have also created a new account.

Or his account may be suspended; when I try to go to his profile page I get: "This user's profile is not available"

Perhaps he made 1 too many prank calls to people while they were at work. Perhaps his bill came due.

    But giving Steve Colbert work.

No such thing as Trump fatigue for Stephen Colbert | Associated Press

Colbert and his CBS "Late Show" vaulted to the top of the late-night comedy heap with his sharp, topical humor about President Donald Trump. Now he's expanding into the world of animation with a Showtime series, "Our Cartoon President," that debuts later this month.

The series is an outgrowth of an occasional feature on "Late Show." Colbert and his executive producer, Chris Licht, developed it into a stand-alone series and hired a team to execute it that works out of the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York, where the "Late Show" is filmed.

While the late-night show finds comedy out of day-to-day news, "Our Cartoon President" seeks to develop characters of the president, his family and administration figures. Each episode takes two to three months to write, animate and voice, although there is flexibility built in for some rewrites based on new events, the creators said.

Showtime will stream an episode on Jan. 28 that features the cartoon Trump preparing to deliver his State of the Union address. The 10-episode series debuts on the television network on Feb. 11.

The White House struggles to silence talk of Trump's mental fitness | Washington Post

Nikki Haley: "Was he unstable when we finally put North Korea on notice?"
    Well, actually yes.

Thomas J. Barrack Jr., Trump’s longtime friend and inauguration chairman: “It’s management by controlled and orchestrated chaos.”
Having much difficulty wrapping my head around that concept.

CIA Director Mike Pompeo: "He asks really hard questions."
Hard in that we have no idea what he is actually asking.

    UPDATE:

New layoffs at Indiana Carrier factory year after Trump deal | Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A new round of layoffs is taking effect at the Carrier Corp. factory in Indianapolis a little more than a year after President Donald Trump touted a deal that save some of the plant's jobs.

The company says about 215 people are being let go starting Thursday, leaving about 1,100 workers at the plant. That's down from some 1,600 factory and office jobs when Carrier announced plans in early 2016 to move production to Mexico.

According to the Wall Street Journal:

Trump lawyer arranged hush money payment to porn star - report | CBS News

Michael Cohen, President Trump's longtime personal attorney, arranged a $130,000 payment to a leading porn star in return for her silence about an alleged sexual encounter with Mr. Trump, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, say that Cohen arranged the payment in October 2016 to Stephanie Clifford, who goes by the stage name Stormy Daniels. Clifford was one of the most popular adult actresses in the country when she met Mr. Trump in 2006 at a golf championship in Nevada. She was 27 years old at the time, and Mr. Trump would have just turned 60.

There were two porn stars that the President was fucking and paid off to shut them up.

As an aside, lying-piece-of-shit Steve Bannon made a comment in the Fire and Fury book stating that Trumps lawyer paid off hundreds of women during the campaign.
