    Consolidation of five Chain Grocery Stores into American Stores or ACME Brand - 1917 - with exception of (an image) The Bell Company. Child's was a Camden based, South Jersey chain store.

    Wow, great picture. Their faces are so clear in this photo and it really brings these kids to life. The boys may very well go on to fight in the First World War.

    Never thought of that but it is plausible. Maybe the guys got to use the same name tags that looks to be pinned to their clothes to their duffel bags going overseas to the front. Any of theses kids could be an older sibling or cousin of author Margaret Mitchell yet to be born in Atlanta in 1900 or write her famous Southern novel. Great way of looking at photos and seeing beyond the photo paper.

    This very photo could have been on someone's mantle, in which young Margaret used it to imagine the reality of the past...
