    Default Mantua developments

Apparently there have been a number of projects proposed for the Mantua neighborhood over the past few years, and some have been built, more underway. What's the overall trend in the private market there? Is there much coordination of what is happening?

    Major things to consider -

    1. Blackwell had some major urban renewal projects in various stages of entering the pipeline, not so much Mantua as neighboring Belmont/Mill Creek. Beyond the completed Lucien Blackwell Homes. When she was the chair of PHA there were ambitious plans for PHA-funded redvelopment all along Spring Garden and through huge swaths of Belmont and Mill Creek. The Feds takeover of PHA, the reinvention of the whole planning process with new master plans for the city - these have largely recast a lot of this stuff so I'm not sure where it all stands now. There are however a lot of properties under PRA control in this neck of the woods.

    2. Drexel is contracting with UCDistrict to expand safety patrols north into Mantua, is apparently backing the expansion of Samuel Powel Elementary - considered a sucessful neighborhood school for a long time

    Drexel Employee Home Ownership Program

The map in there looks like it includes a lot of Mantua and Powel new catchment boundary aligns with about 2/3rds of it.

There have been several tax credit projects for rentals in Mantua which I understand to be east of 40th Street and some talk about developing a supermarket-based shopping center. Does anyone know if the Union Hill development is selling units? It seems like there are more occupied homes the last time I sent by.
