Default Clark Park one year later...

I really enjoy many of the changes made at Clark Park during the renovations, even though at the time I thought I wouldn't.

The tables and chairs in the circle have been a great touch. Does anyone have any idea what the "shrinkage" has been on this furniture? I know people were concerned these would disappear, but my sense is that they have largely remained intact?

I want to know who cut the money for grass seed this year. Is it just me or have most of the city's parks been sparsely seeded this year?

I like the tables. They have mostly stayed around and get used. A big central space for gatherings and rallies that won't trample grass is good planning.

I think the plan they actually implemented had been improved by community input from the first drafts which were "English-style" paths through fenced off green areas. That would have been a disaster.

The old map and tree diagram near the corner of Baltimore and 43rd needs to be up-dated.

A huge amount of trees were felled by the terrible storm in June of 2010, and the map is now inaccurate.

Besides, it was not sealed properly and moisture damage makes it hard to read.

However, it was a good idea! How many parks have a detailed map identifying each and every type of tree by common name and botanical name?

Just saw this on the Friends of Clark Park site...

New Chairs for the Plaza | Friends of Clark Park

10 chairs lost since last year. Not bad!

This, if nothing else, should prove that not everything is terrible.

I know they were trying to get more businesses to donate chairs but maybe the benefit of people buying sandwiches and such and then taking them to CP to eat is too tangential an increase for places to feel they benefit.
