On my way back from the library, tried one of the sweet crepes ($7) over the weekend which was good. There's some plainer crepes to be had for $5. I don't know if the stereo system isn't installed yet or what but was really wishing for some music so I wasn't hearing the next table's conversation so much. Nice place.

Glad that you posted this article. I think that it helped to dispel a lot of the generalities made on online forums when discussions of gentrification and race come up. Another sign that once people get offline and actually interact with each other one on one, people generally aren't as crazed as what the internets would have us believe, especially in Philly...

'Everybody's happy' with 52nd Street improvements

I had noticed the coordinated store signage improvements up by Walnut Street and was wondering if it was connected.

Terence Sheppard, a West Philly neighbor, looked along 52nd Street on Monday, taking stock of the discount, beauty and cellphone shops lining the block and said he hopes any improvements would mean more diverse store offerings.

"All the stores are basically variety stores," he said. "But everybody has the same things. It's pretty much that way all over."

To clarify since that was badly phrased, I was wondering if the signage improvements up by Walnut were connected to the 52nd Street project removing the sidewalk canopy.
