I agree. I'd also suggest that the Croydon finally happening would do a lot to make efforts at boosting community involvement at Lea Elementary improve also.

+ the reuse of the old West Philly High building and the Windermere lot...I think some of the other apartment buildings in the area went market rate. Forget which ones.

I have the Orens Brothers' card and plan to use it.

Yup. Locust Towers at Locust and Hanson used to be owned by Ingerman Affordable Housing and has been gradually changing over to market rate. They also seem to be renovating apartments one by one, judging by the piles of old carpeting, toilets, and cabinetry near the dumpsters every week. The big building on the NE corner of 48th and Locust (name is escaping me now) also seems to be going a bit more upscale after being sold by the same scumbags who used to own the Croydon (and sat on it for years).

ETA: I was right about Locust Towers. They're advertising quite a few newly renovated apartments that look nice and are very affordable ($700 for a 1BR, $900 2BR, $1,100 3BR).

Let ys know what (if anything) you find out from Orens Bros!
