St. Mary's Nursery School in West Philly is holding it's 3rd Kids' Consignment Sale, West Philly Grows Again, on Oct 20th.

We need volunteers to help with the sale on Oct 19th & 20th!


So what's this sale about? Well, it's the biggest kids' consignment sale event in the city! Clothes go from newborn to teen (like new, and in current styles), and include casual, dressy, Halloween costumes--you name it. If you need a stroller, baby carrier, tricycle, puzzles, blocks, bibs, cloth diapers, a maternity dress for that wedding.… you might just find it there!

Volunteers are rewarded with a pass to get into the sale one hour ahead of the crowd, to snag the choicest deals. If you volunteer and are also a consignor, you get to keep a larger percentage of your earnings. Plus, we provide snacks and beverages for volunteers. (Frankly, it's a busy but fun volunteer gig.)


The day and evening before the sale, volunteers collect gently-used children's items at the consignor drop-off (last year we had about 5000 items from over 50 families!), verify that they are indeed of good quality, and then organize them on clothing racks and tables for our sale the next day. The next day, other volunteers help customers on the sale floor and at checkout. At the end of the day, we need volunteers to help us take everything down and sort unsold items for donation to charity, resale, or return to the original consignor. And finally, we need some volunteers to help us tally the sales so our consignors can be paid.

The proceeds from the sale benefit St. Mary’s Nursery School, a non-sectarian, not-for-profit, co-operative nursery school which has been a part of West Philadelphia for nearly 50 years. We feel that the loving, multi-age environment and Reggio Emilia philosophy make St. Mary’s Nursery School the type of village it takes to help raise a child. And our sale benefits the larger community as well as the environment.
