TV reception in Roxborough

Can your TV be too close to the Roxborough TV Antennas?

Over the holiday, friends commented that they have TV reception problem, with the exception of Channel 6.
They live within a 1/2 mile of the antenna farm, and I assume their TV receivers were being overdriven.
They have basic indoor antennas, such as Rabbit Ear Antenna. Any thoughts?

I live just a few miles away in Mt Airy and I have an antenna that looks like a laminated piece of copy paper. I hang it in the window and get great reception. I enjoy not paying comcast one cent more than I need to because they suck.

They need a UHF / VHF antenna (Either rabbit ears with a loop in between, or a flat antenna). Since the digital switchover, Channel 6 is the only one still on VHF, so if that is the only one they are getting then they are missing out on all the UHF stations.

I use a Terk flat antenna (link below) and get all the channels pretty good, including 6 and 12 which seem to be the problems for a lot of people. I am 7 miles from the Roxborough antenna farm. They could probably try a cheaper antenna first as they are so close.

I'm about 1 mile from the farm, and I did have some issues that were resolved by using an RF attenuator. IIRC it was actually a cheap (dollar store) 3 way splitter that happened to have something like -14dB attenuation on one of the ports.

Yes. Being right by the antennas can definitely cause saturation issues.

I think I have the same one, the Mohu Leaf?? Works fine for me, although I need to move it around a bit now & then for certain channels.

Yes I think that's it. I sometimes have to move it but it works great.
