Just announced the other day and available later this month, Google and Samsung are putting out the new version of their Chromebook netbook/ultrabook. The Chrome OS is Google's idea of what a consumer laptop OS should be. Light, fast, and very cloud-based.
The laptops run $249 for Wi-fi and $329 for Wifi +3G. That comes with 100GB of 'cloud' (network) storage for two years, 12 Gogo inflight wifi passes over 2 years, and, for the 3G model, 100 MB/month of free data from Verizon for 2 years (can buy bigger data packages as well). The first review I have seen of it makes it out to be a pretty good laptop, for those who use the computer for browsing, word processing, and light games.
The other day I ordered the 3G model and am excited for it! My current (crappy) laptop's battery is on its last legs and will cost about $100 to replace it, so this seems logical for me. The only caveat is that Netflix doesn't work yet (new processor style in the computer), although them and Google say they are working on a solution.
