    Default Reasonably Priced Internet Service

I am currently using Verizon for Internet and phone. I use the phone only for Internet access, I have a cell phone for calls. As a result I have the most basic phone plan and a 3Mb / second connection, which I use for wifi in my small apt. I live in Mt Airy, in a condo building.

My question is this, I am paying $75 / month all told for 3 Mb / second (which is never actually achieved BTW, it is always slower) and I think it's highway robbery.

Is this a ripoff? Is there a cheaper option out there?

    Thanks!

Well if you're not using your landline, you could cancel DSL and get Comcast internet for $40-$50 a month.

I used to use Comcast, I really disliked their customer service and the quality of the Internet so I switched. I just moved to Mt Airy and now the same service is more expensive.

I had also been feeling cheated by me previous service provider and was looking for a No-frills kind of service to switch over to. A few days ago, I was trying my hand on my friend's mifi device and found it pretty convenient in terms of service as well as speed. He was quite content with his service provider. Upon his recommendation, I opted for Truconnect's offer of a "Contract free" internet data plan. I like their 'Pay by the megabyte' service. No hassles of an expensive monthly plan with the fixed bundle of megabytes. Therefore, for an occasional user like me, it doesn’t really matter if I use a little extra one month or even nothing in the next. I pay only for the actual usage. It’s great for the regular or occasional users alike. I saw their Wifi and mifi plans here

4.99/month, plus 3.9 cents per megabyte? No thanks.
