I'm in between jobs right now and am late paying my bill, probably paying the middle of next month. A couple of people told me to call comcast and tell them that it won't get paid until whenever. Is there a point to this?

I have simply forgetten to pay our Comcast bill in the past. They sent me a pink notice right before the next month's bill came. I don't think you really have to worry about it.
I have been too lazy to pay my bill on time in the past, with no repercussions. However, if you call comcast and tell them you are considering dropping them or some of their services because you are in between jobs, 9 times out of 10 they will magically find you a promotional deal for those same services that saves you money ($20-$50) per month.
Huh, I never tried the direct approach![]()
They won't match the current promotions any more. They used to, but won't now. New policy. It's why I switched to FioS.
With regard to the OP, I think you'll get a $5.00 (or similar) late charge unless you call -- if you call, they should waive it.
