Default Google Maps now has 45º angle views of Philadelphia

I saw this in LA when I was looking at it a couple of months ago, I was wondering when we were going to get it. Angle views make it much easier to see the city...For example City Hall, all four sides of it:

    Looking east:

    Looking West:

    Looking North:

    Looking South:

Very cool. to see this all you need to do is check the 45º view:

And set the zoom to this level(also if you want ot see the different sides of a building or angle, you click and hold the N you see in the circle here and drag it around the circle):

    Enjoy!

Bing maps has had this for years (they call it Birdseye view).
GREAT resource when looking at real estate, pretty easy to figure out what kind of area a house is in.

It's pretty nice. Not quite as crisp as the images they have in a few other cities, I don't think, but nice. It's slightly older than the new satellite data from what I can tell but only by a very short amount of time (I judged that by looking at the progress on Hawthorne Park and the Locust CSX crossing). Nice addition and mostly gets rid of my need to look at Bing.

I wonder if that's why Google added this (that was just about the only thing local.live.com/aka bing maps) was useful for. Bing's APi suuuucks. Wonder if map dominance and Apple not bring able to influence Google is why Apple is reinventing the map app. The API wrappers around Google maps is not very elegant either but the data is worth the drudgery coding against it.
