Default Verizon to kill grandfathered unlimited data plans with 4G upgrades

There are going to be some PISSED off people very soon.

Verizon grandfathered unlimited data plans to be revoked on 4G LTE

Verizon Wireless plans to eliminate its $30 per month unlimited data plan that it provides to customers who subscribed to the plan prior to the company’s transition to tiered data plans last July, Fierce Wireless reported on Wednesday. Verizon CFO Fran Shammo said at the 40th J.P. Morgan Technology, Media and Telecom conference that once unlimited 3G data plan customers upgrade to 4G LTE, they will have to purchase the company’s shared data plan.

Glad I'm holding onto my $25 Virgin mobile Android (which includes 300 mins). Yes its not really "unlimited" in that they do slow you down after 2.5 Gigs in a month and only 3G but its a hell of a deal.

I have the unlimited data plan for 3G and bought a new 4G phone yesterday. I was NOT asked to change it. I specifically asked about it and was told the unlimited is still applicable.

    Maybe down the road?

My cousin is basically in the same boat. I'm hoping for his sake he at least keeps his unlimited plan until his next upgrade (which would give him just under 2 years).
