Default Square mobile credit card processing

Just started a side business (Philadelphia Salvage) to supply my main business (The Stock Group) with material (and also have some fun).

It's retail so I need to accept credit cards and was going through that whole process. A friend has been using Square to run the daily books and process credit cards all on their Xoom.

I just set it up on my HTC Evo (sprint) and it took about 20 min to do it and I can take credit cards, email the client a receipt with a photo of what they bought. It does the tax for me, deposits the next day. All for 2.75% on all cards, no transaction fees.

I just need to pick a tablet for the office to leave there. Not sure which direction I'm going on that...

Love it! Just wanted to let people know about this if they need to process CC for anything. You can e-mail with questions if you have any.

A friend has been using it for her jewelry business at craft shows. Lots of oohs and ahhs from other vendors.

I'm really thinking of ditching my traditional systems and going with this. Over the past couple years their 'compliance' fees, user fees, etc. have gotten insane. I was thinking of just using ipod touches with it.

If you go with an Ipad, they have an free program that you can put your stuff into and it will keep track of how many product A you sold and B etc... It's really pretty awesome. They are coming out with an Android version of that software, I think I'll wait and see what tablets Android is on to decide. I don't have Apple anything and I'm not sure about linking them together.

The fee's are not bad and I get the money the next day. Also being able to bring the mobile device over to the client and have them "sign" on the screen and text/email them their receipt is very cool.

Oh, I don't work for this company or get anything! Just wanted to spread the word about a good product.

That's my only problem, but I emailed them. I do about $6-$10k in credit card sales. They say that, for security reasons, they hold money for 30 days after $1,000 for new users. They also say that they can work with businesses to avoid this, so I'll see what they say. When I get to the office this morning I'll add up the costs of my traditional setup and post it.

Well, this is pretty much a no brainer. Ordering it today.

I got an email back. They said that their is no maximum on swiped charges, and you get the money right away without question. The only money that has a $1000 max before holding for 30 days is if you manually enter card numbers. 100% of my sales are swiped, so I'm good.

Additionally, I just added up all my fees. For my worst month, I swiped 5,270. To do that, it cost me $172 in fees and charges. With square it would be $145. Better rate and far less hassle. Screw ipayment.

    Malloy,
I did the math 20 times- even at my volume? Square wins. Period. The fees a typical machine has been charging have become ridiculous. Even that previous spam- hidden fees become insane. Square is the ONLY one with a straight up system and your money shows up way faster.

Cool. We will use it for races/shows etc. We typically go to showcase stuff...but sometimes people MUST have what we are showing. This is a perfect solution.

Oh, if you have the app installed, can you use the same account/device on multiple phones?

I've been able to. I've been using my iPhone and a iPod touch on wifi during testing. So far it had been super easy. I've written the company about a few minor things that could be improved- but I give it an A so far.

I have, just log into your account on the new device. It's all been Google software. I don't know if you can have multiple devices at the exact same moment...

They have a really good software package for tracking sales for the iPad, not yet for Google. Love, are you using the software? My buddy is actually running his menu, receipts etc. from his iPad
