Interesting. Didn't happen here yet, and some comcast worker said they couldn't block them-but obviously that was wrong. Oh well, I still don't need it since my $20 hd antenna gives me way better stations than comcast. The old movie stations on antenna are awesome, and basically all I watch. Oh, and once in a blue moon I have to buy 200 buck knives for $19.95 on the midnight knife network or whatever it's called.

The only channels unencrypted are local broadcast affiliates, and they're moved to hard-to-find locations (for example, channel 6 is hidden on something like 89.4). And a recent FCC ruling says they can start encrypting them too.

He was probably correct at the time he said that. The FCC decision just came down last Friday.

Right, but you're still paying for it. And I could pay $70 for Internet alone, but I pay $60 for cable + DVR + Internet, because we all know Comcast gives better rates to bundlers.

So ultimately, by paying for Internet and not paying for TV, you pay more to get less.

No, Comcast began the encryption process about 2 years ago. The only thing affected by the FCC decision is broadcast affiliates (KYW, WPVI, etc)

In addition, some content on Hulu you can only get through the web and not devices such as the iPad or Roku.

My setup offers far more programming than yours.
The cheap promotions at Comcast are only available for the first 12 months.
The current Comcast cable+DVR+internet promotion is currently $29.99 more than what you claim you're paying, and that's only for the first 12 months too.
Then there's typical Comcast BS like this http://www.philadelphiaspeaks.com/fo...equipment.html

Yeah, that's actually not true because as soon as your initial promotion ends, all you have to do is call them up and they'll give you a new one. I've had comcast since, I don't know, 2002 (?), and I've never paid full price.

Exactly. I've got mine as an alarm on my phone. I call them, and it goes back to 29.99

No it doesn't. Because I still have access to all those free services in addition to the normal cable.

For the rates, you just call Comcast and haggle every 6-12 months. I think the most I've paid since 2009 is $80/mo for basically the same package. Their published promotions aren't the only promotions. Retention agents have special ones they can give people who are "leaving", but you don't even need to do the fake dance claiming to be leaving these days.

I'm currently paying $61 total, but I'm about to lose that since I'm moving.

If your system works great, than that's great for you. But you are probably getting a worse price for Internet alone than you would if you added even a basic digital cable package.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Are you going to start measuring peepees next?

Geesh man. You can't say that your setup has 'more programming' if radio has comcast and the internet.

Everyone brags about this roku nonsense as if it is some ever-wise decision. Wow-you get german television from Wisconsin. Oh hey-you get HBO! Ummmm, no you don't. You only get HBO on Roku if you subscribe to it through certain cable providers. Crackle movies? I can watch that without roku. In fact, just about every 'station' on roku is nothing more than a port of websites where I can already watch content for free. I can watch them directly on my tv with apple tv.

This is just another wang chung ketchup mustard argument that merely comes down to personal preference.

    I don't have Roku.
You're putting on a hell of a show lately.
