If you just buy Organic stuff it's expensive (however not as much as wholefoods) same if you only buy imported gourmet stuff (huge selection, unlike WHolefoods) but for regular groceries, they're around the same price as your shoprites, giants, genuardis, etc.

When I lived in North Wales, I used to buy at Giant because it was right around the corner, with an occasional trip to the Wegman's at Warrington, since I moved to Lansdale I mainly buy at ShopRIte (the one in Hatfield is pretty good) and regularly drive to the Wegman's at Collegeville. Love being able to mix and match beer, buy non-frozen duck breats and imported cheeses, among other things.

If rumors are true they will probably be opening a new location next year at the Montgomery Mall. Construction is going on at was used to be Boscov's.
Wegmans announced that it will be going to Montgomery Mall, so it's not a rumor.

I like Whole Foods and Trader Joes, and both have stuff that you can't find at other stores, but I don't really stock up from there - just buy a few things from Whole Foods really. I prefer the hot bar and salad bar at Whole Foods over Wegmans, and found Wegmans not really cheaper there. Wegmans has a crowd and is very suburban. However, it is a decent grocery store, one can buy everything (all the necessities for the week), and one can fill a shopping cart up from there without breaking the bank. They keep their restrooms very clean, while Safeway/Genuardi's keeps its restrooms worse than gas station restrooms.

I also saw that Genuardi's in Conshohocken is having its store closing sale. I'm sure Safeway wants to unload the last 4 remaining unsold stores, which are in Southern NJ. I'm not sure if Bottom Dollar wants more SJ stores, but I could see them as the best candidate for more expansion in the region, although Bottom Dollar would just need 2/3 of the store, and the shopping center owner would have to subdivide the space.

I made it out to the KoP store the other day to check out the pub, and I was impressed. The beers there are $2 to $5 cheaper than anywhere else with a similar selection, and the food was actually pretty good. I mean, you can get a lot of the same bottles you can at places like Teresa's or TJ's, except without the standard bar markups. Anything you can buy in the beer coolers, you can bring into the bar to drink. The staff were actually very nice and seemed pretty knowledgeable about their products too. When sitting at the bar it didn't feel like I was sitting in a grocery store, either. I kind of expected to feel a little like the lone guy at the Holiday Inn bar when I was there, but it was certainly not like that at all (maybe because I was with friends, but you know what I mean).

I meet my sister at the Collegeville Wegman's all the time. We eat dinner there and then shop. The food is pretty fresh and they have a great variety. My husband thinks the Collegeville store has better food than the Cherry Hill one- I think they're the same
