My husband and I were going to go today for some beers after Christmas shopping, thank goodness I went to the web to see what beers they were brewing b/c it turns out they're closed! Anyone know the details? What about their good beer - no more?

That is not Whitemarsh...it is Lafayette Hill...
Just a thought ...I personally thought their beer was the most headache inducing beer I ever had..and was told by staff that they did not clean the lines as often as they should...
Also, may I introduce you to something you seem to not know of...
It is called "google"....and it is relatively easy to use....you type in, "general lafayette inn closed",and this comes right up..
General Lafayette Inn Is Closed -- Grub Street Philadelphia
I knew the previous owner...and his mailing address there was Lafayette Hill, 19444.
As I am sure that you know,19444 is the zip code for Lafayette Hill.
Additionally, as I stated from STAFF there, the equipment was notoriously not cleaned regularly.
The whole point of my "google " statement was to fully utilize some of the many posts about this subject.
Then again, that may require a little effort.
Perhaps you and Billy Ross can correct the USPS on their error?
This is the only person in the world that doesn't know Lafayette Hill is a neighborhood within WHITEMARSH TWP.
I would try Googling Lafayette Hill.
Although the Inn has a prominent location and historic building, something just seems lacking with the appearance.
I haven't paid much attention lately but the parking lot was never that nice. Maybe that corner needs a few trees
and attractive light poles.
Do you braveheart.
I know that Lafayette Hill is within Whitemarsh Township.....
The General Lafayette Inn....despite the parking lot, despite the bed and breakfast located behind it, and despite it being well known as a "cheater's" bar, despite the many awards they received for the beer, and despite the long standing financial crisis they had been dealing with for years....never made enough money.
While other places like "lucky dog saloon" seemed to have people standing in line....in MY opinion, since the death of Mike McGlynn, seemed to go downhill.
Perhaps the economy combined with the smoking ban....perhaps the fact that the beer all tasted similiar?
And "google"?
It is a recognized USPS Community...not just a neighborhood.
So the more accurate location is Lafayette Hill...19444.
But you knew that, right?

Sorry about your friend, was that Mike? I never really frequented the place though not far from where I live, but I heard it
was good over the years. With the price of real estate and liquor licenses nowadays I feel for the operators.
Yes....Mike McGlynn....had a new wife and a young child....
Melanoma.
There is other stuff to consider about the "General"....but not in a public Forum.
I like the building...and the potential still exists.
I am a.beer guy...and I don't recall them selling any beer except their own.
Leaving aside all the geographical nitpicking, the answer is YES they are closed, but that the beer lives on, more or less. One of the brewers is now working with a company called Copper Crow (taking a name from one of the old General Lafayette beers) and is maintaining some, but not all, of the recipies:
Copper Crow Brewing Company - Lafayette Hill, PA - Beers - BeerAdvocate
Owl looked at Rabbit and wondered whether to push him off the tree, but feeling that he could always do it afterward, he tried once more to find out what they were talking about.
Because Lucky Dog, despite being somewhat awkwardly situated, has really good food. That's something General didn't--although, to be fair, I was a more recent patron of the place. Combine that with the dingy and run-down appearance, and I'm not the least bit surprised.
At least the property will still be used, if Grub street is to be believed.
I also heard that the beer is living on. Any more info about Copper Crow anyone?

The only ‘warfare’ I’ve seen is the battle that’s been waged against middle-class families in this country for a decade now.”

I had a Copper Crow at the Moose last week. It wasn't the variety listed in the link above.. it was more of a winter beer, with a bit of spice.
I found some at the Urban Saloon in the fall. It was an Ocktoberfest and it was merely OK.
This is the parent company they are brewing with now:
Prism Beer Company - North Wales, PA - Beers - BeerAdvocate
