DANVERS — If you are looking for a full-service, sit-down restaurant at the Liberty Tree Mall, "forget about it."
The Italian eatery Vinny T's of Boston, the only Liberty Tree Mall restaurant with a full menu, wait service and bar, has closed, town and mall officials said.
The mall still has a standalone Applebee's location in the parking lot. It also has plenty of food to offer, including a Panera Bread bakery cafe across from the former Vinny T's location and the usual food court offerings, but Vinny T's occupied a prime spot at the front entrance to the mall.
"I know they are closed," said Town Clerk Joseph Collins, who said the restaurant appears to have closed in the week leading up to Memorial Day.
The town clerk's office had received anonymous calls hinting at the closure. The office traced the number back to Vinny T's corporate headquarters in New York.
"It was a company decision to close the mall location," said Sarah Murphy, a spokeswoman for the Liberty Tree Mall and its owner, Simon Property Group, in an e-mail. She suggested contacting Vinny T's for further information....John Thall, who Collins said was listed as the chief operating officer and vice president for Vinny T's, could not be reached at the company headquarters...
