The original name derives from Ayiti.

I habitually refer to it as Hayti due to my BIL.

I refer to Denmark as Danmark but that's just me ... and I don't trust those Vikings with their evil Gammel Dansk either bucko!

I guess it's time to start to learn how to spell Rìoghachd na h-Alba and Poblacht na hÉireann and all the complicated official and properly-spelled names for every nation in the world.
