Page 28 of the Manual of Indulgences (2006) "A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who, led by the spirit of faith, give compassionately of themselves or of their goods to service their brother's in need".
The reference in the manual of indulgences is Cf. SPA, Indulgentiae apostolicae, June 27, 1963 (AAS 55[1963] 657-659); EI 1968 and 1986, gen. conc. II.
I feel like I just stepped into Facebook, how much do I need to put down for that farm?

I just think the whole idea of "indulgences" is innately funny. I'm not taking sides on finer points of liturgy I don't know.
OK I'm confused. Whats the profound philosophical difference? Please explain the difference.
God surely judges one by your actions, not how many $ you have to spend on XYZ religious hierarchy approved charity. I'm not perceiving a substantive difference between the two.

Obviously it isn't working.
I always love it when nonbelievers pull out references to show that they are smarter, when their ignorance lays in prescribing a writing from a sect of an entire religion. Most of the midwest is not catholic, and to my christian beliefs this paper is about as worthwhile as toilet paper.
Some folks believe faith alone is enough to get to heaven, some believe it requires faith and good works.
Christ himself told us that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.
If you think about it along those lines the idea of indulgences makes complete sense.
