    Default Magpie opening soon?

I've been hearing about Magpie for some time but it's still not open.

    Any word / info?

    Default magpie

It's on the south side of the 1600 block of South street, about the middle, across from the laundromat. Seems that it is going to be pies only, and only pie -- as if they want to up the ante on the cupcake store idea. The target date to open is the 28th, said the (presumably) owner as she left the store Monday afternoon. Whether that includes savory pies or just dessert pies I did not think to ask, alas.

I like pie. But will they make an authentic flaky crust using lard, the way pie crusts used to be made back in the day?

Well they're definitely making progress on the fit out... I heard a rumor that they're aiming for Sept.

Great pie, though we stopped by saturday late afternoon and they only had about 1/3 of the menu available. Check out the Pie Fries, and the coffee is actually pretty excellent as well.

OT: Psych is on USA Network, but you can catch reruns on ION TV, channel 61 here.

Sampled a couple pie slices there the other day and they were both sensational (bourbon pumpkin and the chicken tarragon). My only gripe is the serving size was little small for the price. I would pay a few extra bucks if they were full sized slices or maybe a mini pie - personal pizza sized.

They need a few full sized pies on hand for parties or large dinners. The interior is beautifully designed.
