Just as an update, the upgrade with Verizon went through and I'm very happy with the new speed of my DSL. It's tripled from about an average of 1.3 Mbps to between 3.7 and 4.2 Mbps. Ideally, I'd love to see it going up to 7, which is the maximum speed they promise, but just being above 3.0 Mbps is making a huge difference and lets me watch streaming videos. DirecTV also upgraded my equipment and only charged me shipping. So for a $20/month reduction in costs, I'm very pleased with my Verizon bundle.
