    Default Ultimo coffee

Echoing spicoli's post from another thread; anyone know why construction pretty much stopped for almost a week?

I know that they covered the facade with bricks. Then took down those bricks. Then put the same bricks back up again. Maybe they fired the contractor?

Sounds like L&I's been getting on their case about something. I'm hearing from the builder next door to us that he's been having a lot more trouble from them with this particular build. Maybe they're having a crackdown of some sort.

Is the guy who wrote this serious when he notes that Lucky Day and Kennedy help create a commercial synergy along 22nd St.? In a sense, I guess he's right. They do the support the local drug trade, which is probably the top GDP of our neighborhood.

Haha. I know I thought that was funny too. My guess: The article was written by someone who has no clue, but was just trying to give the neighborhood roots a nod. (While the rest of us all know those places deserve more of a "wink.")

Were they working or clearing out? When I walked by, one guy was loading stuff onto some makeshift moving truck with graffiti all over it and some other guy was just standing inside speaking to someone on his phone...in Russian.

I hope you're right and I just saw maybe one contractor moving out while another was starting up.

Walked my dog by here the other day and saw some of the guys from the South Philly Ultimo in there working on the interior - walls, counter space, etc.

Looks like they're moving forward. Wonder if they'll have a sidewalk to access it from? The second and third floor exteriors seem to be in long term unfinished mode.

If you had to guess....what will open first? Ultimo or the CVS on 22nd and South?

It was when there was still a Graduate Hospital.

I got another one for Honey's...

What will open first? Honey's? ....or the new CHOP development along the riverfront?

And let's not forget about the sandwich shop on 21st and Christian. It looks great but I swear they just hammer in a nail and call it a day.

If you're really lucky; have done all of your homework, and have an outline, you can generally be open in 6-8 months. If you're doing a liquor license, add on a few more months. This is *if* you're organized and have all of the steps. If you're not and are just winging it, you can very easily be out of money before you ever open.

This is Ultimo Coffee, no? Or is this instead of Ultimo Coffee? I'm confused.

Counter Culture is on the second floor of the building; Ultimo will be on the first floor. The Counter Culture space, from what I understand will be a barista school.
