Yeah I would have except that I didn't have enough relatives to magically nepotism my ass into a trade, my friend.

Because anyone with a liberal arts degree has wasted their time on it and never done an ounce of honest work in their life.

Which explains how so many of the people I studied with for my MA were working full time elsewhere in any number of jobs, blue or white collar, or were ex-military and were doing it to better themselves through learning, regardless of if it was going to directly help their job.

The world would be such a better place if people like you didn't shun educating themselves. At least then you'd be able to use proper grammar when talking down to those who you think have college educations.

I guarantee I've formed up more things and ordered more truck loads of concrete, as well as poured and finished that concrete, than our union expert. The nice thing about trades is it's not that hard to pick them up, as long as you're dedicated, have some good mentors, and some free time - like 5-10 years for example. A lot of folks with advanced degrees have substantial skills in other areas, and many of us put ourselves through undergraduate and graduate school in part with this type of work. Dewd. Go crap in a bucket.

If only it worked that way to install new curbcuts when a accident happens...Its doesn't and won't ever as its(The funding) all tied up already

I'm sure you have my friend, I'm not a finisher. So make sure you take that bucket with you on the next big pour, sometimes they don't have Johnny on the spots

My friend, I educated myself fairly well in my field. I served a five year apprenticeship that included day and night school, and have taken every mechanic class available to me to advance my career. I agree, my grammar is far from the greatest, but with my education in my field I'm well on my well to make over a hundred grand again this year

My friend, if you hate unions that much that's fine. But just know I go and work hard everyday for my employer, or I wouldn't be there

Believe it or not, a lot of people with advanced degrees aren't motivated by money, and make a lot less than 100K a year. The next time you show up in the hospital and need a drug, vaccine or intervention, remember that residents make about $50K a year and carry huge debt loads. So do nurses. So do researchers who developed the drugs, vaccines and devices, etc. They work hard every day too. Often at least 12 hours a day, if you want to keep your job. You're very lucky to receive this kind of remuneration, and I doubt it will continue indefinitely. No surprise that lawyers and unions are basically exempted from Obamacare, they were the two biggest donors in 2008, above all US corporations combined. Time for the balance to tip the other way.

And you entirely missed the point of the post to further brag about your exploits in supposedly extorting $100,000 from whatever projects your union is working.

The objective was to point out the irony of your statement in which you used horrible grammar to put down non-trades education.

I don't hate unions, or rather, I don't hate the idea of them. I hate the fact that they've turned into entities entirely devoted to extorting money from government and private developers for the benefit of a small group of individuals. The absolutely intolerable smugness of people like you does not help your image and only serves to hasten the decline of your so-called brotherhood.

EDIT: By the way, did you ever use a small portion of that $100,000 take this year to buy dinner for those people you made the bet with regarding the Goldtex site?

Seriously, are you just saying "my friend" now to be ironic, or can you not control it?
