5) August Neighborhood Clean Up Day - Saturday August 1.
AUGUST 1st is a Neighborhood Clean Up Day!
For your block to participate you can either:
- Notify your block captain (PMBC deals with them directly).
- Email SOSNA at sosna<AT>southofsouth<DOT>org by Thursday July 23rd including the following information:
- The block you wish to clean.
- The name and contact information of a point person.
- A list of supplies you need (PMBC supplies brooms, rakes, gloves, and bags).
Important notes about the process:
- Filled trash bags can be placed at the corner of your block and will be picked up throughout the day.
- There are trucks that spray down cleaned blocks at the end of the day, but PMBC representatives cannot guarantee that every block will get sprayed down.
- You can encourage cars on your block to move during the clean up by either
- A) stopping by the SOSNA office to pick up "STREET CLEANING" temporary parking signs. SOSNA has a limited supply of the STREET CLEANING signs, but is trying to obtain more.
- B) obtaining a $20 "Block Party" permit from the Streets Department to close off the block for parking during the day. Information on obtaining these permits can be found here: www.phila.gov/streets/block_party.html
Thanks to everyone for their interest, and let's build on the successes of previous efforts!
