I noted that this list spans 10 or 11 days and has (if I counted correctly) seventeen incidents, two of which were vehicle recoveries. Not great, but that's less than 1.5 crimes a day for our neighborhood.
A reminder to newer residents who may not have developed the street smarts yet -- remove everything from your cars, and instruct your visitors to do likewise. As long as we are a relatively affluent area very close to areas that aren't so affluent, there are going to be roving opportunists checking out cars and doors on the street, looking for easy targets.
In case anyone was wondering .....a fight resulted in a stabbing at 20th and Montrose last night around 3 a.m. ....I think the Detective said both parties stabbed each other.
That condo was foreclosed. Shocked me; I thought it was Section 8.
Interesting that the post to which you were responding is gone now. I remember it referred to a specific address. (Maybe that's why the original poster had second thoughts and deleted it?)
Lee, could you shed a little more light in the way of context here, and maybe remind us of the block we're talking about? (Not necessarily the exact address.)
It think it's important for all of us to understand that things aren't always what they appear to be. This news seems to explain a lot about why the PPD have not been able to do much about this particular nuisance situation.

Lolly: It's the west side of 22nd on the block spanning Fitzwater and St. Albans. It's next to or a door down from a home renovated about three years ago and a huge corner property on St. Albans owned by the church.
I don't know if all the condos/apartments were affected in the building, but several months ago a Fannie Mae sign appeared in the first-floor window warning folks the property now belonged to the government and any damage would be considered a federal offense (at the time I thought the sign applied to the entire building but later realized it might refer only to the first-floor unit). A small For Sale sign is in the window, too, at least it was.
At first I thought a Section 8 landlord had defaulted, but a neighbor said, no, the folks living in the condos owned them.
Before the development, the door to the building was almost always open, and a large number of people apparently had free access. Folks hung outside at all times of the day and night, and weed often was the smoke of choice. Garbage was piled outside the door with no regard to the regular trash schedule and contributed, in a major way, to the deplorable condition of the street.

So, what's the new developement with this place? I'm sick of the amount of trash that accumulates in front of that building -- it's disgusting.
I called L&I about the check cashing store on 22nd street (2200 St. Albans). It turns out the business has no licenses (housing license, business license, etc.), which is a violation in itself. The woman I spoke with said she saw no prior complaints reported. I was surprised, since the building is in deplorable condition and adds to the blight of the neighborhood. I look forward to L&I's report in 45 days. That thing has got to have a ton of violations.

Nice work! That building is deplorable. I'm shocked it's the first complaint, since that corner is prone to loiterers (and drug peddlers). On atleast three occassions (since I moved to the neighborhood in 2006) I've seen cops handcuffing/searching people there.
Torts, fabulous that you seem to have reached someone at L&I who will do something. It isn't exactly true that they haven't received any reports, though. I've called twice in the past 18 months and also complained several times to Streets because the building offers no accommodation for the tenants' trash.
On a side note, the building owners owe $3,200 in back taxes.

The Detectives taking pictures said it was a stabbing.
Assuming they were taking pictures of the aftermath, and not the actual victim(s), I suppose they could have been making assumptions themselves. But all I'm saying is that I think it's odd there was a gun-related crime reported for the same date at that same location, but no report about a knife incident. Guess I'm just hoping it was one situation and not two separate ones.
