I have since learned more about this incident, via the following reply from George of Town Watch:

Q: That's terrible. Was it a random act or did the victim know the attacker?

A: The parents e-mailed me that it was not a robbery and that another youth was arrested, so I suspect it was some type of grudge fight among teenagers that got out of hand. But not good.

Special Victims Unit detectives are investigating a woman's claims that she was abducted, sexually assaulted and held captive for two days.

The 37-year-old woman was found on Grays Ferry Avenue near 30th Street in Grays Ferry about 3:45 a.m. Saturday morning. She told police she was abducted at gunpoint Thursday on Filbert Street near 11th in Center City and, after being forced by her captor to go with him to buy drugs in New Jersey, was taken to an abandoned house on Christian Street near Grays Ferry Avenue, where he repeatedly sexually assaulted her. She told police she was eventually able to escape on her own accord."

11th and Filbert is the corner the bus station is on, isn't it? I would suggest that this is a location where any woman would need to be extra mindful.I would not be especially happy walking there after dark and I'm pretty self-confident.

I checked on the phila.gov website where it was posted... no idea if thats where the shots came from, but it seems like the first hold up by gunpoint in SWCC in months

From what I can tell, fortunately nothing came from the gun battle last week- it wasn't a robbery (at least not reported) and no one was hit. Most likely two thugs trying to be tough and having a gun battle while also being safely hidden from each other.

And yes, just like everything else, a similar incident is depicted in an episode of the Wire.
