Default Ways to support Bedford Cafe (20th and Kater)

I walked by 20th and Kater (609 S. 20th Street) on the way home today and saw that the P & K owners had posted a new sign that outlined methods of supporting the proposed restaurant, the Bedford Cafe.

    1) You can send an email to Wally Zimolong at wally@sigmanandrochlin.com
    2) You can also send a letter to the ZBA by writing to:

Zoning Board of Adjustment, c/o Mary Jane McKinney
    1130 Municipal Services Building
    1401 JFK Blvd
    Philadelphia, PA 19102

MAKE SURE YOU REFERENCE CAL# 14743 IN ALL EMAILS AND LETTERS

Lastly, let's keep this thread cordial. If you support Bedford Cafe, write an email and/or letter, but it doesn't do any good to continue to fight with those who oppose the restaurant.

    Thanks.

Thank you prm. I agree. No reason to behave with a lack civility.

I do think however that keeping a discussion going can be healthy and informative, and that there's no reason a continued debate can't be cordial.

It may also be useful for those who are unfamiliar with this topic to peruse these two other threads for some history:

    http://www.philadelphiaspeaks.com/fo...rt-oppose.html

    http://www.philadelphiaspeaks.com/fo...0th-kater.html

PS FYI, I'm told that faxing or emailing the ZBA is just as effective as snail mail.

I talked with another one of my tenants today on the 1900 block of South St who had never been approached by those in opposition to Bedford with their petition, but had seen the zoning notice on the property and my email notice to all tenants about it to ask them to voice their opinions, whether they be yay or nay. I encouraged her to contact the ZBA with her thoughts whatever they might be, and she told me she could think of no reasons to object even with having a roof deck with clear sound/direct views of the proposed Bedford location. She appreciated how the operation could add to visibility and safety for the immediate vicinity. So, as of now at least two of my units in very close vicinity of Bedford are "for" the project and I hope they will get their letters in to the ZBA to show this.

This just in via Twitter from @Support609 "Tonight's the last night for our petition for support, so if you are in the neighborhood please stop and add your name to the list" (Meaning, stop in TODAY and sign at P&K, 20th & Lombard.)

Well, the ZBA hearing was on 3/30, and the decision was supposed to be made in 30 days, so I guess we'll know something by 4/29 (or so)?

Ok so most likely this week. It should be interesting.

I'm guessing most likely next week, or possibly Friday (4/29=exactly 30 days). I doubt they will do anything ahead of schedule. At least I hope not in this case. If they do they will be disenfranchising anyone who is yet to send in their letter of support (or opposition).

Which reminds me: THERE'S ONLY ONE MORE WEEK LEFT TO GET YOUR LETTERS IN PEEPS!! (Deadline: THIS Friday.)

There was still no decision as of yesterday. Don't think it was a deadline to make a decision so much as it was leaving the record open for (at least) 30 days so additional input could be factored.

Anywho, anyone can check at any time. The number to call is 215-686-2429. Just give them the calendar #14743.

Very good news! More jobs, more tax revenue for the city, and increased foot traffic south of South.

so the next question is . Is this the end of it and the building will begin or will there be some sort of appeal. (it is possible to appeal a decision correct?) I hope this is the end of it.
