Default Need excellent dentist in South Philly

Any recommendations. Sick of rip offs and dentists that seem to find problems where there aren't any.

i go to weinberg/goldberg in center city. i know, not in south philly - but these guys are great! i HATE going to the dentist - and i found this dentist office is the least scary/least painful experience i've ever had: 215-732-0505/1518 Walnut St

I really liked Dr. Stern on 2nd, right up from Christian if you're willing to come up north a little to Queen Village. My latest insurance doesn't cover him anymore, but I'm actually thinking of going back to him and paying out of pocket.

Dr. Moskowitz right across from Chickie & Pete's on Packer Ave is fabulous. They are super nice and have done a great job for me, and are open on Saturdays part of the year.

I continue to recommend Tom Stern at 2nd and Queen. He's great, and so is the office staff. 215-336-3066. The office is closed Mondays, open till noon Tuesday and Friday and all day Wednesday and Thursday.

"Need excellent dentist in South Philly"

First response - a Center City dentist.

Bill Mestichelli is great. I love him. The office is almost brand new, everyone is very nice, and so is he. No need to go to Center City: just because they pay more rent does not mean they are a better dentist. I chipped a tooth in September and they got me right in there the next day.

He is on Broad btw Morris and Moore.

I go to the one on Moyamensing and Morris. No complaints and they're super nice.

Dentist are a disgrace.Scam artist,go for a cleaning & they will find more work,BS,I just got back from my rip-off Dentist for a cleaning,he said he did a filling, never got a neddle, didnt hear the drill, only have 12 teeth and they always want a big co-pay,he wanted 40$ co-pay,I have 2 dental insurance policies,I pay AARP 500 ayr for 1500 of work,my wife has me covered but none of the theieves take Dental HMO,s-no other profession is so callous & financially motivated.Root canal 1200,no guarentees,I told the lady at the desk,How come you always charge me every time I come & I have insurance, she said i had a filling,i said that it,Ill find another dentist,I walked out without paying, she said my total bills are 1100,I told her to sue me.If they find problems 6 months after having 1100$ worth of work then the initial job was done incomplete, therefore he is not entitled to 1 more penny until the initial job is corrected.Screw insurance, put a little cash away yearly.Walk into the dentist office for $1200 root canal with insurance, you will have a co-pay of 400,pull the dentist on the side & tell him you will give him 650 cash,I guarentee he takes it--money doesnt talk it screams-650 cash today,no taxes,no wait for insurance money, believe me,cash can bring dental bills down

This is one of the funniest rants I've ever read on these boards. Thanks for the giggles, ol' man!

I have had very good experiences with Dr. Charlene Hirsch at 10th between Catharine & Fitzwater. I remember reading some iffy reviews of her work on Phillyblog a few years back, but my personal experience has been very positive.
