Default FiOS in South Philly

Anyone have a sense of whether Verizon has started fitting out a FiOS infrastructure in south philly yet?

It's been discussed a couple of places around here, but there's no central discussion.

fios in fishtown is here. finally.

Long story short, someone south of Snyder claims he already has service and I saw fiber going up on 9th St a bit over a month ago.

It sounds like once they're ready, they'll start advertising, putting out door-hangers and generally harassing us. I can't wait.

On the same page, it gives me a list of "bundle packages" which includes DSL and DTV (not FIOS). So is it available or not?

However if DSL + DTV are actually $55/mo for a year as it says, I'm all over that.

The Verizon infrastructure is really bad here in South Philly. For FIOS to work I would think they need to add new cables everywhere. We were using a Verizon T1 connection for our office in South Philly. Every time it rained we lost our VOIP Phones and internet because water was getting into their sub-station. I had to move over to Comcast. I would not trust Verizon again unless they could show that they could run FIOS reliably.

Default No Problems with My Fios

I'm the "guy" that claimed, quite truthfully, that I had Fios installed sometime in November. In my area, just south of Snyder between 11th & 12th, they have been working for months everyday to rewire the area. I have had no problems at all with my Fios or internet. They have very good deals going on in the start up stage and if you work it right there is a whole menu of things they will throw in; just don't say settle for the first perk they offer.

Hey, Im a Fios rep, if you guys want to know if its available where you live, just contact me at dstavny@gmail.com or 215-606-8056. The areas are going live one by one so depends where in philly you live.
