Default New places on Passyunk

I heard today that the King of Jeans may become a ethnic restaurant (greek?) and a new bar may open across from Columbos, selling the 10 dollar pint, high end beers. I got this thru the SP grapevine. Looks like it will be restaurant row shortly.

Thanks for the info.

Any zoning info posted for King of Jeans?

Isn't it rather big for a restaurant, though? It is one of the few large spaces on the avenue, hope whatever it is fills the space...unlike certain other restaurants...*cough*Adobe*cough*.

1934 East Passyunk Avenue...It's that big take-out place closer to Broad Street that has a for sale sign up all the time.

agreed. If I had my wish it would be a 4-story, flat iron style building.

Same for the El Zarape Building, at Passyunk and Morris.

remember the chinese restaurant that was at the corner of 13th and Drury, where Apothecary is now? It was a horrible piece of one story infill archicture. But, they tore it down and put and a very sexy, modern, but lot appropriate building (skinny) building in its place. A good swap.

Default New cupcake/candy place

Saw this today in the EPA BID e-newsletter:

Quote:
Sweeties' Grand Opening!
Saturday, Nov 21, 12-2pm
1822 EPA
If ever it was a blessing to have both Sweat Gym and Wake Up Yoga on the Avenue, it will be so even more with the grand opening of Sweeties. Homemade cupcakes and cookies? Yes! Candies & nuts? Yes! They'll also have party balloons and for the grand opening, there will be clowns, balloon sculptures, face painting & magic!
Full e-newsletter here.

actually, it used to be a three story building and it was either torn down or downsized at some point. apothecary is actually the same building that was there before, just dressed up. I might go up to six on broad and four at morris.

I believe there was a taller building on one or both of those sites; go look at the photo mural on the wall of the Commerce (TD) Bank at Broad and Jackson and you'll see such a building in an circa 1900 photo.

EDIT: I should have actually read all the posts in this thread before chiming in; I now see that this was mentioned two hours ago.

I'll be leaving quietly, now.

I actually saw someone standing in front of the open door at S&S. don't know what that means, but at least someone was checking in on the place.

Urban Jungle?

Does anyone know anything about this new store purported to open in the 1500 block of Passyunk?

They were listed as participants in the Restaurant Week promotion that was held in mid September. They seem to still be doing minor work and there were two people outside this a.m. The owner seems to have a masters in procrastination.

Per a periodic e-mail I get from East Passyunk Business Improvement District announcing happenings and new businesses:

Our newest neighbor is opening this Sunday! For the holidays, they will be offering all of your folliage needs, including high-quality Christmas trees, wreaths, dwarf trees, and evergreen garlands + gift items and Wooly Pockets to keep your home green, indoors and out!
