Elvis is a great guy but he wasn't doing anything great to get a crowd in there. Multiple times I was in there he would have some ironic movie playing and some metal blasting on a Friday night this
put off alot of the walk in traffic. The new vibe is the same old south philly vibe but they seem to be keeping thier eye a little more on the quality of the food. Hopefully they can get inspired and it can survive
I think theres still hope yet.

Adobe's food is very inconsistent and the service is horrible. That place should be a cash cow. If they put as much energy into the food and service as they do into their karaoke it would be a home run.
That said, I like both places I hope they can make the improvements to survice.

I have popped in once in a while, and like Frank, was upset when Elvis and Joel left (I understand they left because the management wasn't taking their advice on how to get a better crowd in there, even though they were told to give any advice they could...and not allowing them to try some new stuff here and there) As for Adobe, a good friend of mine is one of the managers at night, they don't do great, they don't do horrible... they DO NOT need all of that room though.. I think the one in Manayunk helps keep this one going, they do karaoke and apparently get an ok crowd, and I like to go in to watch sports sometimes because it's not usually packed, and you can hear the games if you want!

Is the old Cantina Manager still bar tending weekends at Sticks? I forget her name, but I was always a fan of hers.

    Default Comic Book Store

Looks like the new location for the Comic Book Store is close to finished. The Store is accross the street from the news stand @ E Passyunk and 13th St. The old store is on the 1600 block of East Passyunk.

    No Record Bar, no care.

Seriously though, I love Stogie Joes.

They appeal to almost everyone is right. The residential neighbors nearby, as I understand it. are not thrilled by the loud music emanating from SJ's in the summertime. I love their food but am glad not to be a nearby neighbor.

That's not the first time I've heard that. I assume that they talked with SJs about it, what was their response ?

It's possible that S & S is changing suppliers or not.

I have no idea what SJ's response was to the complaints but what I do know for sure is that at least one of the two nearby homes for sale is on the market because of the aggravation caused by live entertainment @ SJ's in the warm weather.

Sorry to hear that, have they live in the area a long time ? The coffee shop on E Passyunk near 13th Street was closed for a variety of reasons and I was told one was excess noise late at night. Did they complain to the LCB, L&I or the police ?

Sticks and stones was closed at about 1030 pm on Friday night. I took a picture. I just don't feel like posting it.

I thought that coffee shop closed because of all the illegal gambling going on in the back.

That was the rumor but the neighbors across the street also had issues with late night noise. The L & I sticker on the door was for a lack of permits and the BPT.

PARC will be completing the storefront this week. The rail you see is temporary. The concrete steps will be faced with marble and a wrought iron railing will be installed. The storefront will be trimmed out and painted and the gooseneck lights will illuminate the comic book store logo that is to be painted onto a flat space above the window. it will make for an attractive addition to the Ave. We wish it was done already!

The sign in the window was turned to OPEN this afternoon.
