It looks like some of the roadblocks have been solved but a couple still exist. They may be minor. Today 1/21 the orange application to sell beer etc showed up on the front door but there still exists a stop work order from about a week ago. This property is @ 1941 E Passyunk Ave across the street from Colombo's. On the surface I don't see any problem with it but I have talked to one person who thinks being a half block from a rehab center may not be too wise. I don't think my friend would object though.
On the major plus side those of you that would like to be able to buy good beer in the neighborhood should get their wishes granted. I wish them good luck.

OTOH, it makes a ton of sense because it's just off the subway stop where people can stop on the way home...perhaps the same reason the rehab center is there.

A new boutique opening at 1731 E. Passyunk, how has this been over looked?! A lot of work has been done on the building, and I am very excited about "Nice Things - Handmade", grand opening is this Second Saturday Feb 13th.
They already had a write up in The City Paper!

"Nice Things" is not helping their cause with little or no information. It's too easy to walk by without even looking.

from City Paper:
Michele Aquino, who’s opening The Bottle Shop craft beer spot with partner Gena Montebello at 1941 E. Passyunk, is shooting for a first-week-of-April opening.

Though I'm a little skeptical since I passed by a couple days ago and there was still an L&I work-stop order in the window.
I'm following the bottle shop on twitter, and it seems like they are still on schedule. It would be the closest place to my house to get beer, and on the way home I could stop at isabella pizza to pick up wings.

I wonder how long it will take them to pull the whole thing together. According to twitter they just found fridges. Not really sure how they plan on first week of april opening if they don't have fridges yet.

El Zarape the Mexican restaurant across from the Cantina is now offering Black Angus Cheese Steaks priced @ two for $7.00. The location is where East Passyunk Avenue Crosses Morris and 12th Sts. Their last shot at non Mexican food was pizza and well........it wasn't very good. Someone step up and be the taster for Philadelphia Speaks, I will try to hit it over the weekend.
