Not sure but I'm fairly sure I heard about 8-9 gunshots. I'm around 9th and Morris.

Heard gunshots around 10:23, so seems like it could be the same ones? Sounded southeast of me, surprised that it the noise travels that far, as I'm up at 16th and Wharton.

Around 1020pm I heard sirens and they were lasting beyond the usual time. I live near Methodist Hospital, so it's fairly normal to hear sirens often.

At around the same time everyone else heard gunshots, I did too - but only 4-6 shots, in succession, and they were CLOSE.

Shortly after I ran outside and to the corner of Broad & Ritner, where I saw a cop car, lights blazing, headed south on Broad, and in a hurry. At this point I realized I smelled sulfur.

I watched the same cop head south with his lights on, but right after he crossed Oregon he must have turned them off, and then he turned his lights off, and I lost him.

Any news? I can't find anything on the internet, and RadioReference did not deliver.

Police helicopter has been circling around 6th and tasker for 10 minutes or so

Is it lighting up backyards? That's usually why they call it out.

Yes. It looked like it was hitting the area around 6th and Reed/Dickenson.

Yea i was just heading up to bed when the light went through my backyard by 2nd and tasker. Turned on the scanner, sounded like the 600 block of Garrett street, 3 males one in green sweater. It was a vehicle chase. I also heard the block was sealed and swat was on ground... Cant confirm it though. I thought i heard shots too earlier. Worst part was i kept listening to hear why they we chasing them, state police kept asking and the philly cop kept stuttering and saying he wasnt told a reason yet.

Radioreference is proving useless. Looks like I'll have to get a digital scanner. Need one anyway b/c I don't care much about the citywide channel; only the district ones.

It was insane last night. That helicopter was up for a while. Sirens everywhere. I heard cops flying by at excessive rates. Nothing anywhere in the news? WTF?

Yeah, what gives?! I woke up early with hopes that somebody would have written something about it? Staties? SWAT? Jeezy Kreezy!

The news barely scratches the surface of the crimes that happen here. Beyond homicides (which sometimes aren't even written up), you're unlikely to find a whole lot. Shootings, unless it results in a murder, don't often make it in the news.

I seriously doubt a homicide is not written up and turned into a job. You keeling over from a heart attack and dying is not going to generate one--that results in a death certificate, not a DCN.

Calls for suspicious persons or to inspect activity often don't result in a job with a DCN. Not unless there's something substantial to it.

A better indicator of what jobs PPD have created are on CrimeReports.com the source data comes directly from the Roundhouse.

It just seemed a like something more... this was at least 30 minutes of non stop firetrucks,police and EMT'S flying down Broad street, along with 5 shots while it was all going on (the gunshots sounded like the opposite direction, but that could have been echo or something).. I was walking around Broad and Mifflin when this was all happening, and even besides the cops on the call, plenty of other cops just zooming up and down Mifflin and 15th\Broad area with out the flashing lights...so I just assumed something big was happening.
