Default Former Rooney's hoagies on e. moyamensing

So I saw the windows had brown paper on them. Anyone know what might be going in there? It's been sitting vacant for far too long.

Not sure, but Rooney's hoagies sucked. I don't know how, in this town, in this part of town, they lasted as long as they did, making sandwiches as poorly as the one I got the one time I went.

I don't know what I'd like to see there. High(er) end pizza? Another good bar? Gelato place? Something totally new like Federal Donuts was? Definitely not another deli.

I'd like to see a good coffee place there. We have two recent and decent good bars in the area, so we don't need that. Maybe a high-end deli like the Foodery with beer. Actually, didn't Two Street Pizza just go out of business? Maybe a good pizza place wouldn't be bad in that location. Hmmm, what to dream about, what to dream!

Oh, God, certainly no crap deli. I don't think the neighborhood would allow one of those. Anyway, there's a yucky deli like that right near there across Moymensing High end like the Palm Tree on 2nd St. in Queen Village would be great. I guess we'll know what it is soon since someone is working on the building.

I think the biggest problem is going to be the space itself - it's tiny. even gutted it can't hold any sit-down dining; so if anything does come of it - it's going to be take out me thinks. Personally, I'd love a decent deli - although I have to say, I've been amazingly surprised at the quality of the hoagies at that "yucky deli" corner store up the street .... but a place that's sole focus is "DELI" versus corner store, etc ... would be sweet for the 'hood.

LOL! It's actually kind of cool looking inside because it's so old. Now I feel bad calling it a "yucky deli" because the man at the counter and the old guys who hang out in there are really sweet. I've only just gotten chips in there, though. Now I want to look for the dusty 1987 bars of soap! A crappy corner store like the ones on Tasker heading toward Broad is what we definitely don't need.

any store that sells long johns, picture wire, chips, assorted greeting cards and 1987 bars of soap is okay in my book.
