Default Tell Mark Squilla you want a food truck pod in South Philly

This says Squilla is considering changes to food truck rules that would create food pods around the city, including in South Philly. There's a weekly one in Oakland that I went to once, and it was awesome. hundreds of people, music, booze, good times.

Who would want access to food trucks?

You think a vegan hotdog truck is going to be a flashpoint for gun violence?

    I want this.

For us Queen Village Whole Foods nutbags and tools of every stripe and persuasion, events like Night Market enhance the experience of living in Philadelphia. A similar event at a different scale could be very popular. And if it was near local businesses -- like, if it was held on Passyunk Avenue or 2nd Street in NoLibs -- it could provide a spark for local shops.

You don't have to come, theREALalesis.

God forbid a Philadelphia neighborhood have some nightlife after 9pm. Someone might hear a noise or smell from their stoop and then everything William Penn envisioned in his Grayte Experimente/Greene Countrye Towne will come crumbling to the ground because a resident was minorly inconvenienced.

Everyone that is not a shut-in would want this! Why WOULDN'T you want this. These are fun events that actually build up a community where people end up meeting their neighbors, something htat is far too rare these days. Food truck people are honest hard working guys and gals that need support as local businesses. What is your deal?

Last time I checked, food trucks deal in cash only. I doubt the operators are that "honest" when it comes to filing their income tax returns. For example: Reported hot dogs sold = 500. Actual hot dogs sold = 1500 That's tax-free profit on 1,000 hot dogs.

You better phone the mayor right away and tell him to get started on an Actual Hot Dog Value Initiative.

I just got a letter from the OPA asking me to estimate the beef content of my hot dog and whether its Kosher or not.

    What should I do?

who is going to clean-up all the trash this creates? oh wait will they dump it in a city owned lot? Looks like a hippie palace where people pee all over each other and they wash their hair with it. No thanks, stick to the west coast where that is accepted. No thanks I don't want it to bring all the potheads from all over town who have the "munchies". A food pod puhleeze looks like an Ikea display. How much of a fattie can someone be that they are begging for a pile of food stands. A better idea would be a pod of exercise equipment! Like the other jerk said stay in oakland or better yet go on the road with a state fair, they have all the foot long hot dogs u want.

Whaaa? Is there some sort of study out there that I am unaware of that equates a food truck pod to pothead invasions? This might be the oddest thing I have ever seen someone get worked up about.
"No one wanted to be mayor of Philadelphia. It was a thankless job, which for the first 56 years offered an annual salary of zero. In 1745, two men turned down the position and instead accepted large fines. In 1747, Anthony Morris fled to Bucks County to hide and thus avoid notification of his election. After Morris’s disappearance, a new election was held, and William Atwood was re-elected."

There doesn't need to be a study you moron, how dumb are you? Just go down to south street on a Friday night. Better yet do your own study go there tomorrow night on your bike and put a bunch of food in the basket and see how many drunks and potheads come up to you with the munchies. If you want the food "pods" so bad volunteer for them to go in front of your house and advertise it in the Daily News, u reject. See how long it is until you regret that decision. Geez what kind of fat slobs are you people! Hello there is no shortage of food or places to eat in Philly, what the freak do you need food pods for, fat slob losers!
