Default Roxborough Seafood House Now Open

    They opened on Friday.

They seem to be a second location of Clock Bar Seafood (since 1939), whatever that is. It's a surprisingly intimate location - there are only 5 booths, but the bar is large. They should probably open it up better to the outside.

    Racially mixed crowd.

    $4.95 Martini's 4-7pm

    Edit's.

Get the Colossal Butterfly Shrimp. Wow. The GM is a longtime Casselli's guy. I think they'll do well. Nothing frozen. Small menu of well-done stuff, similar to D'Allesandro's next door. Bring bread for the broth for the PEI mussels. Wow again.

Eight taps. Dogfish Head, Weyerbachers, but they need to lose the Sam Adams.

Is that supposed to be a good thing or a bad thing?!?

What a bizarre thing to observe, let alone comment on. It's 2014 and we have a black president, c'mon people. This shouldn't even be a "thing".

Clearly you need to be hit over the head with information to be able to understand, and you don't appreciate subtlety. I'll let you figure it out for yourself, or remain ignorant and confused.

I was surprised when I walked in, but I eventually figured it out. I'll definitely be back, and soon.

Strange, very strange comments. The racial make up of a restaurants patrons really has no relevance to anything. Not a (valid) criteria by which a restaurant should be judged.

Incorrect, and the singular of criteria is criterion.

I don't think they have catfish. I had whiting last night. It was very rich. They have Dungeness crab legs. I'd like to get some of them.

Whiting is a type of fish, brain surgeon. That's what they called it at the restaurant when I asked them what the special was - it isn't my term.

Enough carping, let's get out and support this new local business.

I'm also worried about the scale of this operation.

That was my first reaction, but it doesn't necessarily have to be a loaded statement. Roxborough on the whole is overwhelmingly white, yet Dalessandro's consistently has a mixed crowd. I think that's a great thing - it draws business from outside the neighborhood and puts people from different neighborhoods and backgrounds together where they can all enjoy food. I'll bet if Dalessandro's wasn't right next door, the seafood place would be mostly empty, mostly white.
