Default The Thin White Duke (Bowie) is back!!

David Bowie, a long time Philly favorite who loves this town, has just released his first single "Where we are now" in a decade. Dave's single comes from his forthcoming album "The Next Day" and expect he'll come back here if on tour.

Hey, that's the photo I posted of him on FB for his birthday yesterday!

Love Bowie so much. We paid somewhat large sums of moneez several years back, for 10th row seats at his last show in the DC area. It was completely worth it.

I got front row seats for cost when he played with Moby at the tweeter center. Best concert ever.

I saw Bowie in 84 at Hershey stadium for the Let's Dance Tour. Great show except we drank cheap red wine in 90plus humid weather.

Trying to discern the concert I convinced my future wife and her little sister (now beloved sister-in-law) to go to but appears it was the Serious Moonlight/ Let's Dance tour in July 1983 at the Spectrum. Most of the songs were new and many principal players were dressed in going out African tribal costumes - except for Earl Slick on the most blistering lead guitar I'd ever seen before or since.

I recall upon leaving we went around the back for kicks in hope of catching the band coming out and was struck by Dave's F-150 brown stretch limo town car. We didn't wait but it was a great show, though sorry never to catch his earlier Spiders from Mars stuff live or famous gigs at the Tower.

Tony Oursler was a pretty good pairing with Bowie- they complimented each other perty well.

Had never heard of him before - thanks for the heads up. Tony's work (pure Bowie):

Happy 67th today to Bowie. He's hardly my sole icon since I don't have one, but one of many of the always golden age of Rock and Roll that is still running strong, which is a bit of an aberration in it's length as music trends go, likely due to the quality of the songs. It's hard to pick Dave's best video to post here but will give it a shot....I always liked his Ziggy Stardust era so we'll go with Space Oddity, performed at the Tower in Upper Darby at least once, that being a favorite venue of his.....
