    Default (Street) Maintenance Responsability: Private

If you've ever had the pleasure of going to Philly's City Maps website[1] (and can get past their misspellings) you may have noticed that some streets--like the one I'm thinking of moving to--have private maintenance responsibility. Since I'm thinking of moving to one of these streets I'm curious what this actually means. I understand that I have to do my own snow removal but does it mean our street has to repave it? Does that mean trash collection doesn't take place from that street itself but we need to put our cans on another street? Anyone had an experience living on or hearing about one of these streets?

You may be able to get someoene to clarify that at the streets dept. Site located above. Or try your neighborhood association.
