I have always liked Little Fish, but no hand soap? That's gross and dangerous. I hope they get a wake up call.

Little Fish has always been awesome every time I've been there. Now I haven't been there since they HAVEN'T HAD A WALL, but I can see why that might increase rodent activity.
I am sure all will be well once the exterior renovations are completed (fingers crossed). You can actually see your food being cooked in the place since it is so small and they have an open kitchen out of necessity and I don't recall hairnets being worn by the cooks, and you know what? I'm okay with that.

caveat I think yelp reviews are always too good or too bad ...
"I'm stuck in New Jersey
I don't expect too much
If the world ended today
I would adjust"
How is it possible that no one has mentioned that giant blue tarp covering the outside of the building? It now has graffiti on it. Not exactly putting your best face on your business.
i read somewhere (the insider perhaps, but can't find it now) that they rent the building and are at odds with their landlord about the repairs. as in the landlord is in no particular hurry to get it done regardless of the impact on little fish. in the wake of all the recent closings, i hope they can winter thru and make it to spring, when hopefully the repairs will be complete...
If I am not mistaken the owner has opened a new place down on Lombard called just 'Fish'. Maybe they have been preoccupied. I've always liked Little Fish.
The rodent problems at Little Fish are long standing. Neighbors have witnessed mice inside and rats outside for several years (long before their wall starting falling down 4 months ago). According to Municipal Court records, they are being sued for not paying their rent for the past 18 months. Not good.
little fish will be served at that restaurant any time soon![]()
Most restaurants have most of these issues. It's a city so you expect mice...even in our houses. But yeah--no soap in bathrooms is gross but I can't say it's shocking. I have dog fur all over my house and I still eat here...so...I can't say much worse. They say the average bathroom is cleaner than our kitchens.
I guess if you think about all this stuff too much, you would stop eating altogether.
Given that choice, I accept it. Would be nice to see them do a bit better though. Hand soap and paper towels aren't exactly costly.

All Restaurant inspections are now publicly available from the state.
No inspections in the neighborhood reveal anything like the repeated issues at Little Fish, example:
"Purpose: Inspection / Complaint
Violation 46.712
Comments: Mouse feces observed on shelving with cleaned utensils/equipment."![]()
Dog hair can be a pain, but it is no health hazard. Rodent infestation is, especially when it not actively addressed.

Thanks for the link, I think... some of my favorite restaurants are on the list ;o(
Memphis Taproom at 2331 E Cumberland St Philadelphia, PA 19125 has 17 violations and is Out of Compliance. I can't believe I have been eating there once a month. No more. The report for Memphis Taproom is disgusting to me.
