And what exactly is this based on besides perception?
I know, right? A person would be better off using this map, whic is based on actual incidents:
Search Crime
I do like the police map myself. Since crime can be a block by block type issue, incident maps are a better indicator than highlighting square miles of Philly and labeling them dangerous. For instance, certain crimes are migratory in nature, like auto break ins, or home thefts. You can look at a cluster of incidents during a specific time frame to better assess risk in an area than looking at a highlighted area.
Some of these maps are good as well.
This is a newer map through the police site: https://www.crimereports.com/ It indicates local sex offenders locations.
This is a homicide map for the Mid Atlantic and also NY. Seems pretty current. Murders in the Mid-Atlantic, 2012
Welcome to Philadelphia. Here's how you can help us make our great city even better:
* Write to your elected officials
* Report suspicious activity to the police department
* Is there an abandoned/nuisance property in your neighborhood? See if it is tax delinquent. If so, maybe you can force it to go to sheriff's sale.

Link to the South Philly thread where this asshat and his map get savaged. OP must be from Oklahoma or something.

I like the original better. Good attempt, though, just for SP...though it's overall kind of drawlin.
