"no live music, no djs." thank heaven. Now if only we could make sure no $1 PBR pounders.
Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do.
Gee. A gastropub. That will last about 30 seconds.
He's successful, and I heard the plans for Garage are pretty wild- but "Growlers"?!?! Yikes.
The other problem is the 'landlord'. Let's not forget that it is the same nut bag that ran that building into the ground and had 1/2 the women of Facebook block him from his late night perverted messages. I'd have a clause stating that the landlord isn't allowed within 500ft of a customer.
I hate when people so eagerly dismiss a 'bar' bar, or a place that has music within reason-but in my novice opinion, this particular place should really be fitted for eating finer fare-like cochon or similar.
Maybe the gastropub will bring back 'the world's best sandwich'... bwahahahahahahaha
As you know the neighbors on that block are vocal and organized. There is one person in particular who made life EXTREMELY difficult for Vesuvio's publicans. I agree the neighborhood could support something a little higher-end. And I agree people def get their knickers in a twist very quickly when the subject of bar/music/noise/fun comes up. It's annoying. Live and let live, I always say.
That was truly a sadwich. Callback bazinga!
I'm hoping for something that follows the tapestry, devils den, hawthorns model... Good food, good beer selection, a little less emphasis on drinking.
Remember that people loved vesuvio in the fishtank, pool tables, and good food years...
I think a nice bar with good food could do great in the area. Wishing well seems to be doing well, even though I though the food was terrible the last time I went.
There was something sketchy about Vesuvio's that I think kept many locals from going there.
I don't get all the hate from the neighbors on that block. 8th street is one of the dirtiest blocks in Bella Vista. Maybe they should focus their efforts on sweeping up a little.
I don't know much about the squabbles between the neighborhood and this bar (besides what I've read on here) ... but I can tell you that the failure of Vesuvios and (more specifically) Little Bar is almost entirely the fault of the former owner. We're talking about a guy who had his entire staff walk out on him - after he fired a completely different staff only a few months prior.
This is an incredible location, and Little Bar actually had some very interesting things going on, with passionate people bringing something new to the area / bar scene ... there were decent crowds, and they were for the most part corteous and respectful of the neighborhood. This was not some rowdy club that it was made out to be. I had high hopes for the place - but the idiot owner single handedly ruined everything.
He wears a suit everyday, getting into his mini car. Thw father is has a separate garage where he runs his saw & other tools at all times, including 6 in the moring.
