Dense.
From a friend who witnessed it, this morning outside Old Swede Church at Christian and Water Streets around 6am a man pushed down an eldery woman and took off with her watch.
A runner near by apparently chased after him. I'm not sure the outcome. Just another heads up for those out early walking alone.
While not advocating anything here, I'd simply like to remind everyone:
Bob’s Gun Shop (best prices anywhere, use it as a benchmark when negotiating with a local vendor, keeping in mind that you have about an additional $40-70 in costs when buying from Bob's)
While open-carry is specifically prohibited in a city of the first class (Philadelphia), if you are otherwise eligible for a License to Carry Firearms, but are found guilty of doing so without a license, it is only a minor misdemeanor offense that carries no jail time.
If these thugs started getting shot, I bet they'd troll those areas a lot less.
Just sayin......

I haven't worked out since mid-June. Thinking about the gun option. It's that or getting fat(ter).
This 71 year old will hunt him down.

I know this will open a can of worms and I shouldn't do it, but I know a guy who won an open carry case against the Philly pd, sued them and won for arresting him while open carrying...
I've personally been to a few open carry meet and greets in the city with no trouble.

I frequently open carry when my wife and I are walking the dog late at night (were both night owls lol). But there's certain obvious areas where doing so is just asking to start trouble.
Some argue open carry to be at a criminals benefit as they may see it before you see them and try to take it or succeed at doing so... I don't disagree with that at all... I don't agree with it either... I'm pretty undecided on the whole thing.

Really? I'll fully admit that I can be a bit trolling at times, but does a serious thread like this have to go the way of gun nonsense?! Anyone in Philly can get a gun if they want one. Case closed. What bull ****.
I saw this yesterday - how awesome was that! obviously though he knew what he was doing.
I don't know why this was listed under weird video but this lady is also a poster child for concealed carry.

We all know the process in Philly isn't as easy as it is in other places, and in other parts of PA, you can simply strap on to your belt and call it a day without worry. No nonsense, just saying that if more folks carried and started shooting at attackers, you'd have less attacks, period. The criminals should go target NJ, nobody there has a gun. It's a deterrent, like a nuclear weapon![]()

The process in Philadelphia County is the same as any other county in Pennsylvania now. Be glad you weren't here years ago when virtually no permits were granted. If you follow the procedures exactly as posted you will have no problem as long as you are not prohibited from getting a permit.
Also Philadelphia is not like other parts of Pennsylvania. Don't try to compare them. I don't see many pick-up trucks with racks filled with shotguns rolling down Broad Street as I do in New Ringgold. Same goes for the lady or gent strolling into the WaWa with a semi-auto strapped to their side.
I am all for law abiding, responsible citizens owning and carrying firearms. I don't know if it would have helped. I don't know many female joggers who carry during their run or how one could have responded if she never saw her attacker until his arm was around her neck choking her out.
Sometimes tactics are more important than firepower.

The process is the same, but that doesn't mean they make it 'easy', or are actually 'willing' to issue them. I've lived in Lower Bucks most of my life; I remember when Philadelphia operated under the may-issue mentality and you couldn't get them. IIRC, then the City tried passing laws prohibiting carry, and it had to be challenged in Harrisburg, city lost, etc.
How would it have helped? Well, do you really think a robber is going to attack a woman when she's visibly carrying a firearm? Again, just pointing out that increased private gun ownership and CCW equals decreased crime. Period.

You are correct, Philadelphia was very strict and had to be compelled by the court.
I am not sure who makes it 'hard' to get a permit? Those who set the procedure or those who can't follow the procedure.
When it says a money order, don't bring a check.
When it says two recent passport style photos, don't bring your graduation 8 x 10.
When it says government issued ID, don't try to use your library card.
Don't try to get a permit at the Advanced Training Unit which is opposite the Gun Permit Unit.
Etc.
Some people complain, but they can't follow simple instructions. Maybe that shoud be part of the application process.
