Cool. One down, ∞ more to go!
The reporters really have to do better than bloggers if they wish to keep their jobs.
"Peddled a 1/2 kilo?!" Ummmmm... I'm thinking that they most likely did a bit more than that in coke sales-that is only what the police bought to issue felony warrants. Anything under that would have been a smaller offense.
And was everyone evicted from those apartments? My guess it no. So much for the apartment complex living up to its word.
Yeah I'm definitely glad they got this element out of there cause I'm sure they had a hand in plenty of QV crime. All you can really hope is that the replacements, because there will be replacements, will shift their HQ farther from your particular neighborhood, whatever that's worth.
Yeah, the Feds would def not have been involved for that amount
A good question, and one that QVNA should be following up on and finding out from the management. My guess is that some people who should be facing eviction because of their involvement or relation to the perps might still be there because it takes so damn long to actually boot someone out of housing like that. Court cases, city agencies, etc. etc. Plus, from what I understand, the place has one person managing it and doing all the eviction paperwork.![]()
It is indeed privately managed.
Ownership is a convoluted pool of federal, state, and city agencies combined with the residents themselves. The standard lease they have has been beefed up in the past to make it easier to evict people who violate its terms, but, as LIN points out, it's often not as cut and dry as all that.
There are tons of tax-credit subsidized houses and apartments throughout the city. They are not section 8, they just get heavily discounted property taxes and pass the savings on as reduced rent (in theory). As everyone mentioned already, it's complicated.
