Default Bainbridge Street Barrel House @ 6th & Bainbridge

Anyone know what is going on with this building? I thought the owner was going to rehab the place and build a new restaurant. From the looks of it, the place is abandoned. On the top floor, nothing is covering several of the window openings, and whole place is exposed to the elements. I can't imagine that is good for the structure.

Used to have an orange zoning notice on it, but don't see it anymore. As I recall the idea was for a fancy burger joint (?), but I'm foggy on that. Maybe someone with a better memory can correct me.

But it seems unlikely that the Fetfatzes as involved because they are actively working on the new bar going into the Tritone space (Hawthornes owners talk Tritone plans | Philadelphia City Paper | 02/13/2012).

Good news, and it does involve the Fetzfatsis.

The ugliest block of Bainbridge Street between fifth and sixth (Queen Village) is undergoing a renaissance. The old NORGE building at Sixth and Bainbridge is being renovated by the Fetfatsis family (Hawthornes and BV Beer Distributors) and will house Bainbridge Bar and Grill this fall. Just east of that, a warehouse building is rumored to be a new 10,000 square foor home for a doctor and his family. Rumored also is the upcoming sale of the cleaning supplies building at Fifth and Bainbridge. On the Sixth street side; a new restauarant will open soon called DIVAN (Turkish) and a pet grooming store on the block between South and Bainbridge. More area activity is rumored and we will post after confirming
From Bella Vista Town Watch's page on facebook.

How many of these are there in QV/BV? I know of a couple, but this seems to be the trend lately....

Awesome, another bar and grill to stumble home from. I should just start having my paychecks direct deposited there when they open.

The pet grooming place is no surprise. I think there are now officially more dogs than people living in QV.

Looks like its going to be called the Bainbridge street barrel house.
They have a Facebook page. And have been teasing for a day or two
Sounds exciting. They say they will be baking their own rolls and breads from scratch.

Here. Now you can feel enlightened. Hopefully this wealth of knowledge was worth the jersey shore pouting! They don't even have a phone number yet, so I'm not quite sure what you were wishing to see.

They've certainly pissed off one or more of the unions, but then, how hard is it to do that?

Despite the guaranteed opening date, they have no menu and have not tasted a single thing. Despite the gastropub or whatever moniker, the guy cares about just getting a restaurant open, and food comes second. A menu and requirements were set by the people contracted to create the whole thing and the owner just doesn't get it-and doesn't even understand why they have to spend time trying the menu items out in the kitchen before opening.

Ok..thanks for the clarification. I thought you might be referring to the construction work being done haphazardly. Glad to hear that is not the case. Regardless of whether the restaurant is a success or not, restoring the building is a good thing for the neighborhood (I think). Having a fully functional restaurant space is certainly better than having an abandoned warehouse with boarded up windows. Hopefully this ownership group gets the restaurant right, but if not, I'm assuming someone else will take advantage of the space and the investment poured into this rehab.

Hi. I'm one of the owners of the barrel house.
Thanks for your interest and concern for our menu, however you're grossly incorrect.the fundamental basis of a restaurant is a menu of food items is it not? Knowing this, and us knowing this, you really think we would make a huge investment without worrying or caring about the food?
We would love to know who the "people" are that are considered reliable to you.
We look forward to tying in the existing neighborhood haunts with ours for a complete experience without walking far!

Interesting. So you come on here and initially act like you're just an innocent voyeur offering a restaurant's facebook page, and then you are now an owner? Pretty scummy. And the 'people' I consider reliable have been in the business for years, and I have known them for at least 12 years more than some anonymous bauble on the innerwebs. So, maybe you'd like to spare the pantomime and tell us what the menu is since you're in the know.

Oh-and it doesn't sound like a restaurant. It sounds like a 'bar with memorable bathrooms' that happens to have food- from your own descriptions...

"“Memorable” bathrooms, unlike most others which are overlooked.
24 taps of local, regional, and imported beers.
3 taps dedicated to PA-brewed beers.
A cider list “to die for.”
A wine list “that’s smart and exquisite.”
A whiskey list that is “intoxicatingly lush.”
    A “perfect” drink list.
And a brunch, lunch, bar, and dinner menu that is influenced by European and Asian culture.

If the surrounding area is lucky the food and drink at Bainbridge will be as luxurious as the restaurant’s vocabulary."
