    Default Tapestry is now open!!!

Tapestry is now open on 5th and Bainbridge! The former Adsum looks great, with just some minor changes that separate the bar from the dining area.

Has anyone been there yet? I know that I saw one person that's on here! What was it like? Does anyone know of a website to see the menu?

Tapestry was awesome. Ambiance needs a little work but the beer list is tremendous (24 taps!). Only had a snack, but menu looks great.

What did you have? What was off with the ambience? Noisy?

No worries; Beau Monde is good eats, though I'm always disappointed by their wines by the glass.

Do you recall anything from the menu?

menu reminded me of N. 3rd, which is a good thing. Simple, gastropub-style with a lot of options. I just had some spicey pickles (exactly what they sound like) which were great. It was a bit loud, but it seemed like they rushed to open and still haven't added some touches. Music didn't seem to match the beer-bar vibe (techno/club/lounge?). I guess compared to the decor that Adsum had, it seemed a little sparse. Ela on the otherhand is gorgeous.

I agree, the music didn't match the beer-bar vibe, but otherwise it was great. I tried the bacon wrapped dates and the meatballs (appetizer size) and the prosciutto and gruyere panini. The prosciutto tasted like regular ham but the panini did have a fried egg on it and much like bacon, a fried egg makes anything delicious. Overall the food was good and the beer list was great. And there is an extensive list of cocktails and wines by the glass.

HAHAHAHA! I 10,000% agree on the fried egg part. The other night I went with a friend to IHOP. Even they now have a fried egg burger, and it was actually good!

Went on both Friday and Saturday night. Haven't had much more than a snack (chicken livers w toast points, delicious) but the cocktails, beer, service and atmosphere were fantastic. The food we saw all looked amazing. We'll be back soon!

OK, finally got there and wow!

There are some large plates but the menu is definitely pro-sharing, which is definitely in our wheelhouse.

The food: everything we tried was at least good and tasty, most was exception:
    • Olives -- served with (I think) roasted pistachios, nicely done, not overly salty as some olives are
    • Crab croquette -- quite tasty fried crab ball with a tangy tartarish sauce
    • Meatballs -- good but nothing special; unremarkable
    • Mussels (blonde) -- good mussels, didn't love the sauce. Nothing egregious, just not my palette.
    • Mac & cheese -- this is my new favorite m&c -- wow
    • Octopus salad -- nicely done, cold dish, octopus bits over a green salad -- delish
    • Rock shirmp -- OMG they were simply amazing
    • Beets -- sugar beets & yellow beets over a melty cheese -- delish!

The beer: Amazing list, wow just wow.

The service: excellent and without being overbearing or intrusive, just perfect

Kid friendly for the well behaved, if you have brats, please please please, leave them home.

    Nitpicking
    • Our server couldn't comment on specific beers; I get that they've just opened and the selection is huge, totally understandable now but this would be a rather annoying shortfalling in a month or two -- let's hope this progresses
    • The music was a notch or three too loud, at least for me. The place was crowded enough that it had it's own organic din and didn't need faux background
    • The lighting is odd, some places too bright, others appeared too dim

Overall, we simply loved the place and will most certainly be back. I don't know that I'd schlep from Paoli like one of reviewers on yelp, but love that it's 2 or 3 blocks away.

Stopped by the night before Thanksgiving for drinks. Good drink selection, and the place had a really nice vibe to it. I'll definitely be back, especially to try the food.

Beer varies too greatly to nail down, the cheapest I recall was $4 for a pint of something I wasn't interested to $20ish for a big bottle of Belgian; the link that I posted up thread (if it's still available) had photos of the draft board. The

Food also varies, just about all of the hearty shares (crab, rockshrimp, meatballs were around 12. Olives were like 5 I think. Don't remember cost of burgers or big plates but don't recall seeing much of anything at or above 20 (maybe 1 or 2 plates).

While certainly a subjective point, nothing seemed obviously overpriced.

Sorry for all the vagueness, I really tried to make an effort to remember the details figuring others were at least as curious as I had been, but got distracted enjoying the meal and entertaining my kids so others could as well.

Much cheaper than AdSum, which is deliberate. Very extensive bottle and draft list for beers, but also a nice selection of wines. The menu is a big improvement over AdSum--larger, more varied, less fussy. I had the charcuterie plate last night--speck, sopressato, prosciutto, 2 other salami types I can't recall the names (9 bucks, it was huge). The bacon pannini is fabulous. Very good french fries, too. This place will be insanely popular--it was packed last night, which is truthfully more fun than eating in a sparsely attended dining room even if you have to wait a but longer for a seat.

Big improvement? Certainly not for me. I think a better way of phrasing it is that the new menu is more accessible to your average person. I'm not seeing a lot on that menu that can't be had at a dozen other places around town, which I'm sure was also deliberate.

Not that the menu looks bad mind you. There seem to be quite a few things that would bring me in, but mostly on the liquid side of the menu. I wish them all the best especially since I've discovered that Katie Loeb will be behind the stick. Finger's crossed that the property's curse can finally be lifted.

I checked it out the other night. Draft list is big but I didn't love the selections, might just be my taste. Huge bottle list, I didn't look that closely. Cocktails were good and priced very well for the neighborhood (most $8). I like that the cocktail "list" is just classic cocktails, no overly fancy drinks here but everything was well done. It's not Southwark, but the cocktails were very good (and cheaper, but also smaller).

Menu is really broad and affordable, was hard to decide what to get. Big plates are all $10-15 and portions were good, though no fries with the sandwiches (instead they were served with a pile of undressed micro greens, why?). Tried eviled eggs, grilled octopus salad, mussels and porchetta panini. Octopus was great, perfectly cooked and tender. Other food was fine but I wouldn't get the mussels or porchetta again.

All in all, I'd rather eat at Royal Tavern but the kitchen has potential. In any case the neighborhood really needed a place like this, I think they will be successful and I will definitely be coming back.

ETA: They aren't serving dessert yet!
